Big Brother star Brian Dowling says: 'To witness the outstanding work of all the nominees and award winners was extraordinary.'

The UK's largest national diversity awards will air on television for the first time next month.

Filmed back in September, The National Diversity Awards will broadcast on the Community Channel.

Role models and community heroes were among the honored at the ceremony for their commitment to equality and diversity.

Big Brother star Brian Dowling hosted the event again this year, who said: ‘It is a pleasure to be associated with such an inspirational awards ceremony.

The same week at National Coming Out Day (11 October), Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson had an announcement of sorts to Out Magazine: 'I would probably list myself as mostly straight.'

The 21-year-old is a longtime LGBT ally who refuses to limit himself with labels.

Calls for boycott of military science fiction film over the anti-gay views of its author Orson Scott Card are misguided according to its star and its director

Hollywood actor Harrison Ford has said his new film Ender's Game is not homophobic, saying the views of anti-gay author Orson Scott Card are 'completely separate' from the movie.

The actor was responding to the launch of a website Skip Ender’s Game by US activist group Geeks Out, which urges movie goers to boycott the film and avoid giving money to its author.

Card is a board member of the anti-gay National Organization for Marriage and has called for gay sex to be criminalized.

But Ford stressed the film does not address gay people at all.

John Scalzi has raised up to $50,000 for LGBT and civil rights charities in his 'Counteract a Bigot Drive'

An American author has responded to internet trolls by pledging $5 to gay and civil rights charities every time he receives abuse.

Award-winning science fiction writer John Scalzi has raised over $50,000 (£32,000, €37,000) by today (6 February).

Trolls attacked the author for a pro-choice satirical blogpost from last year in which Scalzi adopted the persona of a rapist. One troll, which Scalzi affectionately calls 'the Racist Sexist Homophobic Dipshit', took particular issue.

British author will write the introduction to the new hardcover comic book collection based on the romantic comedy

British writer Neil Gaiman has paid tribute to popular gay web series and comic book Husbands.

The ‘Sandman’ and ‘American Gods’ author has written the introduction for a hardcover graphic novel edition of the digital comic.

Calling it a ‘smart and loving romp through genre’, the web series was written by Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Once Upon A Time’s Jane Espenson and character comic Brad Bell.

The series describes itself as the world’s first marriage equality comedy, set in a fictional America where every state has legalized it.

Former Firefly and Playboy Club star says he had spent the last 14 years of his career fearful that being gay would destroy his career

When Sean Maher was cast as a closeted gay man in the since-canceled NBC drama The Playboy Club, the 36-year-old actor decided that off-screen at least, he was going to bust out of that closet.

Maher, best known for his role on the sci-fi series Firefly and its follow-up feature film Serenity, confirmed that he is gay during an interview with Entertainment Weekly in late September.
