For Europe’s gays meanwhile, Eurovision – good or bad – is the perfect excuse for a party.

LGBT ally is excited over the release of her brand new record, scheduled for September

American singer-songwriter Cher is soon to release her 26th album.

On Sunday (21 April), the 66-year-old took to Twitter to report on her album’s progress, tweeting ‘I JUST FINISHED MY CD!’

The as yet untitled album was originally scheduled for release in March, but Warner Bros. Records say it will now be released in September.

It is the popular gay icon’s latest studio album since the release of Living Proof in 2001. 

A teaser track for the album, called ‘Woman’s World’, was released last November.

Swedish Euphoria HQ singer and Eurovision winner and will join Sydney Mardi Gras parade after-party on 2 March

Eurovision 2012 winner Loreen has joined the Sydney Mardi Gras parade after-party as a last minute addition.

Loreen will join Crystal Pepsi (Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters), Heather Small (ex-M-People) and Delta Goodrem at the party, Mardisgrasland, on Saturday 2 March.

US performer speaks out in support of Amnesty International's Write for Rights campaign which demands justice for murdered lesbian activist Noxolo Nogwaza

Scissor Sisters singer Ana Matronic has shown her suppport for a campaign to end violence against lesbian women in South Africa.

In an emotional video made for Amnesty International's Write for Rights campaign, the US performer has spoken out against the plight of 24-year-old lesbian activist Noxolo Nogwaza who was raped, beaten and stabbed to death in South Africa in April, 2011.

It is believed she was attacked because of her sexuality and Nogwaza's killers have yet to be brought to justice.

Ex-Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears says he probably shouldn't have come out when he was 15 as it 'made the rest of the year pretty miserable'.

Shears said in an an interview with rucomingout.com that he was bullied a lot at school after he came out and it went 'totally unchecked by teachers and other staff who watched it happen first hand'.

Scissor Sisters lead Ana Matronic has credited blonde bombshell Miss Piggy as her inspiration.

In an interview with UK-based LGBT magazine Beige, the glam-pop band's sole female spoke about the first performance she ever saw and the effect it had on her.

She said: 'Honestly, It was Miss Piggy. The Muppet Show was really important as you saw the activity and the cult of personality backstage and how it manifested itself onstage. That had the biggest effect on me.'

British soul singer Heather Small will perform at Australia's biggest gay pride festival, Sydney Mardi Gras.

Delicious new word 'kiki' is being added to the ever growing list of gay phrases that have embedded themselves into popular culture.

Kiki comes from the Scissor Sisters track, aptly named 'Let’s Have A Kiki' from their current Magic Hour album and is perhaps best explained by the band themselves who sing: 'A kiki is a party, for calming all your nerves. We're spilling tea and dishing just desserts one may deserve. And though the sun is rising, few may choose to leave.'

The US band, who release their fourth album Magic Hour on 28 May, will officially kick off the 16-date tour in Las Vegas on 15 June, then travel the continent, visiting cities in Canada, before returning to their hometown of New York for a two-night stand at Terminal 5.

American band spawned from New York gay scene debut Only The Horses 

Scissor Sisters, the band famous for the song Filthy/Gorgeous, unveiled their new single Only The Horses on BBC Radio 1 today.

Premiering on Fearne Cotton’s radio show at midday, the dance-pop song will be released one week earlier than planned on 13 May.

Produced by Calvin Harris, the single will precede the new album Magic Hour released on 28 May.

Speaking about the track, openly gay lead singer Jake Shears said: ‘When we wrote Only The Horses, I immediately knew that Calvin would help knock it out of the park.’
