Australian Marriage Equality and PFLAG Australia are in the capital Canberra to push MPs to a vote on same-sex marriage next week

Gay marriage campaigners are in Canberra, the Australian capital, today to lobby politicians to support marriage equality.

Rodney Croome, national director of Australian Marriage Equality, and Shelley Argent, national spokesperson for PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Australia are pushing for a vote on a same-sex marriage bill next week.

PFLAG Australia president addresses Premier Campbell Newman in personal letter

Queensland for Equality has wasted no time starting their campaign against the repeal of rights for gay people in the Australian state.

The newly formed gay rights group took out a full page advert in the state newspaper, the Courier Mail, with PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Australia.

The advert takes the form of a letter from the president of PFLAG Australia, Shelley Argent, to the Queensland premier, Campbell Newman.

YouTube video answers questions on Australia's equal marriage inquiry

With just a week to go before the Australian senate closes its public inquiry into gay marriage, campaigners are calling on supporters to make their voices heard.

A YouTube video featuring Alex Greenwich from the Australian Marriage Equality group, Sen Raj from the New South Wales Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby and PFLAG's Shelley Argent, answers some of the questions behind the inquiry and encourages viewers to make a submission.
