Carly Rae Jepsen says about same-sex marriage: 'I’ve grown up knowing it’s just the way things should be.'

Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen, famous for megahit Call Me Maybe, has spoken out for gay equality.

In the Call Me Maybe video, which has over 66 million hits on YouTube, the pop princess ends up losing the boy-next-door of her dreams to another guy.

During an interview with Time magazine, the Canadian Idol star admitted she did not think up the twist for her popular video.

'Especially when I see the second-rate talent that has been inducted.'

Never one to mince words, Elton John paid tribute to the late Donna Summer and in the same statement, blasted The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for passing her over when she was nominated this year.

'Her records sound as good today as they ever did,' he said of Summer who died Thursday (17 May) at the age of 63. 'That she has never been inducted into the Rock `n' Roll Hall of Fame is a total disgrace especially when I see the second-rate talent that has been inducted.'

Friends pay tribute to 'talented' trans performer who died after suspicious fire broke out in her Brooklyn apartment

Friends and fans have paid loving tribute to a transgender performer, described as the 'Puerto Rican Beyonce', who died in a blaze in New York.

Lorena Escalera was found dead by firefighters in the early hours of Saturday (12 May) after a fire which broke out in her apartment engulfed the four-storey building in Brooklyn.

According to the New York Times, it took 65 firefighters over 30 minutes to tackle the blaze, which is now being treated as suspicious.

A tough economy stops North West England's LadyRock festival, due to be headlined by KT Tunstall, in its tracks

The LadyRock women's festival scheduled for 26 May in Manchester, North West England has been cancelled.

Scottish pop singer KT Tunstall had been confirmed to headline the festival, along with radio favourites Young Pony Club and Ronika.

LadyRock was poised to be the first event of its kind in the region. The women's-only event hoped to bring the best female talent to the stage, from top performers to up-and-coming talent.

Adam Lambert has managed to emerge as one of the biggest stars to ever be launched from the American Idol franchise.

He's about to release his second album, has been nominated for a Grammy Award and is a popular concert draw around the world.

Lambert is also one of the few openly gay American Idol alums but he does not believe his subsequent success is due in part to his fellow gay males.

Recovered singer tweets that White Light may be 'best dance recording I've ever made'

George Michael, now fully recovered from the pneumonia that nearly killed him last year, has sent out a tweet to fans saying he has completed his recording of White Light, a song that is a tribute to the fans who prayed for him to pull through.

'Ok my lovelies, WHITE LIGHT is done and dusted!' he tweeted earlier this week. 'Am I allowed to say it may be the best dance record I've ever made!'

GaydarRadio listeners vote for the British pop songstress over rival Lady Gaga

Madonna and Kylie have a new sister in their pop royalty family, as Adele was named as a new gay icon today (22 April).

The Someone Like You singer won 55% of the thousands of votes cast by GaydarRadio listeners in the UK, while her nearest rival Lady Gaga only received 18.9%.

Other winners were Gareth Thomas, the first openly gay professional rugby union player, who won Celebrity of the Year picking up more than a quarter of the votes.

Openly gay Swedish footballer Anton Hysen was named Hero of the Year after getting more than a third of the votes.

Presents transgender son Chaz Bono with Stephen F. Kolzak Award

US Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack had already given a very moving tribute to stepson Chaz Bono at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday (21 April).

She talked about how Chaz 'meant the world' to his dad, the late Sonny Bono, who she said was 'watching from heaven.'

'Chaz had the courage to follow his heart and his convictions and that's what true leaders do,' Bono Mack said.

Then, after a video presentation about Chaz, a woman wearing a dramatic afro wig  a wig came onto the stage unannounced.

See them perform How Will I Know in preview of next week's episode

Two months after her untimely death, Whitney Houston and her music will be the focus of next week's episode of Glee titled Dance With Somebody.

FOX television on Thursday (19 April) released a preview video of one of the episode's most powerful musical numbers: How Will I Know.

It features two of the show's gay characters, Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Santana (Naya Rivera) singing background to the powerful lead vocals of Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Rachel (Lea Michele) in this slowed-down a capella version of one of Houston's early hits.

'Hollywood to Dollywood' chronicles Gary and Larry Lane's cross-country adventure

Gary and Larry Lane left their native North Carolina more than a decade ago to try their luck in Hollywood.

Equipped with wholesome good looks and charm, they have modeled, made commercials, gotten bit parts in movies and TV shows and been big winners on the reality shows Fear Factor and Winter Wipeout.

The twins, both gay, have also been working on writing scripts - one that they wrote especially for their idol, Dolly Parton. They had met Parton briefly at several Hollywood events but had no inside connections to get her to read their script.

Activists slam media for identifying 18 men arrested in LA restroom

Activists in Los Angeles say the naming and shaming of 18 men arrested in an undercover gay sex sting could 'destroy lives'.

The LA Gay and Lesbian Center has slammed newspapers and TV channels, including the Daily Breeze and CBS2, for publishing the names, mugshots and birthdates of suspects arrested in a Manhatten Beach public restroom last week.

Leaders of the center say the coverage of the story could lead to public humiliation and claim one of the men attempted suicide as a result.

Bono says he is 'truly honored' by award given for helping to promote LGBT equality

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced Tuesday (10 April) that Chaz Bono will receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award at its Los Angeles GLAAD Media Awards Ceremony later this month.

Bono, the only child of Cher and the late Sonny Bono, was a popular contestant on ABC's Dancing With the Stars last fall and in a pair of recent documentaries chronicled his transition from a female named Chastity to a man named Chaz.

Tammy Lynn Michaels and singer are headed toward custody and financial showdown in court next month

After nearly nine years together and two children, Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels continue to be engaged in one of the ugliest same-sex celebrity couple splits in history.

Michaels, a 37-year-old former actress, has filed court papers asking for a raise in the $23,000 a month she currently receives from Etheridge in child support, according to documents obtained by TMZ.com.

For the city of Newark, Whitney Houston's funeral did not come cheap. As reported by the Atlantic Wire, police officers amassed $187,00 in overtime. This is approximately 5 percent of the police department's budget.

The city's officers were 'barriers between fans and the proceedings on the day of the funeral.'

Elton John, David Furnish and son Zachary selling LA apartments and will move to new $7.7million family home

Sir Elton John and David Furnish are selling their Hollywood apartments.

The couple – who are dads to 15-month-old son Zachary – own two homes in the Sierra Towers building Los Angeles and are selling them for a total price of $5.1million (€3.8million) after purchasing a $7.7million (€5.8million) home in Beverly Hills.

One of the apartments previously featured in Architectural Digest and covers 1,831 square feet and is up for sale at $3.5million (€2.6million).

Singer's letter becomes internet sensation over a decade after being written
 

A handwritten letter from singer-songwriter Fiona Apple to a high school's gay-straight-alliance has gone viral - 12 years after being written!

In 2000, the then 16-year-old high school student Bill Magee wrote to Apple asking her if she could write a sentence or two in support of his school's alliance. Within days, Magee received a handwritten response from the Criminal hitmaker.

Elton John and husband David Furnish want another kid to join Zachary. Singer also speaks out against bullying for Lady Gaga joint project

Sir Elton John is reportedly planning to have another baby.

The Rocket Man singer and his partner David Furnish – who welcomed son Zachary by a surrogate on Christmas Day 2010 – are apparently hoping to give him a little brother or sister by the end of the year.

A source told the Daily Mirror: ‘The wheels are in motion. David and Elton have never hidden their desire to extend their family, and believe the time is right for another child.

Trespassing will be out on May 15, two months later than originally scheduled

Adam Lambert's second album Trespassing will be released on May 15 - almost two months later than its originally scheduled debut.

In February, the singer had announced to fans that his sophomore album would not be out on March 20 after all explaining that he was 'working on some new songs, making the album even better!'

'Thank you all for understanding,' added Lambert who also executive produced the record.
