Openly gay singer holds slight lead in Democratic primary in North Carolina

Clay Aiken has emerged with a slight lead over his closest rival in his bid for the Democratic nomination for a North Carolina seat in the US House of Representatives.

Aiken, 35, holds a slight lead of more than 300 votes over Keith Crisco but it might be some time before the final results are known.

Absentee and provisional ballots must still be counted and could potentially alter the outcome, according to the News Observer.

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has spoken out against people who call his homosexuality a 'disability'.

The flamboyant singer said he has received comments and tweets such as ‘it’s so sad to be gay’ and he finds the statements ‘indirectly offensive’.

‘It ain't a DISABILITY!! It's just a disposition ya'll. the only thing that makes it "hard to deal with" is when folks be ignant bout it. Ha’, Lambert tweeted.

American Idol and Dreamgirls star explains how drag queens used to style her out before performances at gay clubs

Jennifer Hudson has revealed how gay people enabled her to go from $25 gigs to winning an Oscar.

The 32-year-old singer and actress shot to fame after appearing on American Idol in 2004, but reveals her singing roots are in gay clubs.

‘I used to go to gay clubs when I was a kid,’ the ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’ singer explained.

‘We were 16 or 17 and my best friend would pretend to be my manager.’

She added to V Magazine: ‘He’d have business cards made up and he’d negotiate for me to sing for $25 a song.

The Grammy nominee, the first openly gay artist to ever have an album reach the number one spot on the Billboard sales charts, likes what is happening to the singing competition this season.

'I think the show is doing a really good job this year of kind of revamping a little bit and keeping up with the times,' Lambert says.

Clay Aiken, the runner-up on American Idol then the runner-up on Celebrity Apprentice, is hoping for a first-place finish that will land him in Washington DC.

The openly gay singer on Wednesday (5 February) announced that he is running for a seat in the US Congress.

'I'm not a politician,' he said in a video on his campaign website. 'I don't ever want to be one.'

Aiken, 35, hopes to unseat Tea Party Republican favorite Renee Ellmers in North Carolina's conservative 2nd congressional district.

Australian popstar will replace British bisexual artist on the BBC reality competition show

Pop star Kylie Minogue will be replacing bisexual artist Jessie J as a coach on The Voice UK.

Joining will.I.am and Tom Jones for the third season, the ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ Australian star has said she is ‘very excited’ to join the show.

‘I love the concept of the show and have been an avid viewer of both series,’ she said.

‘Will I be competitive? Probably more than even I imagine? Watch this space!’

After shaving her hair off for charity, British pop star Jessie J has responded to claims she is wearing a wig in the promo for The Voice.

Gay CNN host Anderson Cooper has defended Beyoncé Knowles for allegedly lip-syncing the national anthem at the inauguration yesterday (22 January).

Speaking on his show AC360, Cooper brought up the controversy as part of his segment ‘The Ridiculist’.

‘Tonight it is the story everyone seems to be talking about. Oh scandalous scandal, whether Beyoncé may or may not have lip-synced her performance of the national anthem at the inauguration,’ he said.

Gay rights champion and lesbian icon Kelly Clarkson joins Beyoncé and James Taylor at US President's inauguration ceremony

Pop star and gay rights champion Kelly Clarkson has been chosen to perform at US President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony.

The American Idol winner will sing 'My Country Tis of Thee' at the 57th Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC on 21 January.

She will be joined by R&B superstar Beyoncé, who will sing the national anthem, and James Taylor performing 'America the Beautiful'.

Despite admitting she was a Republican at heart, Clarkson said she would vote for Democrat Obama over his support for gay marriage.

The HMS Ocean battleship’s camp mime-along to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas became a YouTube hit.

And gay celebrities got in on the excitement, with Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen sharing it with Anthony Cotton – from long-running TV soap Coronation Street and the original UK Queer As Folk.

‘It was glorious and made me laugh and cry with joy,’ said Cotton, who put the link out via Twitter.

Bisexual pop star Jessie J has offered a behind-the-scenes look at filming the new series of The Voice UK.

The ‘Price Tag’ singer, who will return as a coach for the second run, posted images of herself filming the auditions on Instagram and Twitter.

Fellow coaches Will. i. Am, The Script frontman Danny O’Donaghue and Welsh music legend Sir Tom Jones, have also returned and began filming the blind auditions in Manchester earlier this month.

Oh, what a night! One Direction’s Harry Styles and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran sang a gay classic at karaoke together as captured in a fan's video.

Styles and Sheeran were filmed singing Elton John and Kiki Dee’s ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’.

The fan video was taken at a party that followed One Direction’s recent sell-out performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

In the video, the duo put their own ‘spin’ on the famous gay classic while fellow band members Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and others cheekily danced around on stage.
