Won’t discuss his sexuality because that would 'legitimize the question'

In a new documentary about the life of former New York City Mayor Ed Koch, lobbyist and longtime gay activist Ethan Geto addresses Koch's inaction during the AIDS crisis which had impacted so many of his constituents.

'So many people, particularly in the gay community, thought Koch was gay and that because he was a closeted gay man he wouldn’t do anything on AIDS,' Geto says in the movie. 'It would have been so incredibly invaluable for a popular mayor of New York to declare he was gay.'

Archbishop Cardinal Francis George says of gay marriage: 'society will be the worse for it'

Chicago Archbishop Cardinal Francis George used an event celebrating the 50 year anniversaries of 400 couples over the weekend to express his opposition to same-sex marriage.

He did not mention gay marriage directly but instead said the institution of marriage is something that 'comes to us from God' not from the church or from the government.

Same-sex civil partnerships are legal in Illinois and Gov. Pat Quinn is pushing for gay marriage to become legal.

'Not what I meant to say at all. Being gay is not a choice'

CNN's Ashleigh Banfield said on Friday (1 June) that she misspoke when she said during a broadcast this week that 'homosexuality is a lifestyle choice by people.'

Banfield's comment came during an interview with Kansas Pastor Curtis Knapp lit up the Twitterverse and she quickly became the target of a lot of criticism. Knapp believes the federal government should put all gays and lesbians to death.

Retired rugby stud featured on magazine's annual 'Naked Issue'

Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas quickly become a hero to so many  because of the openness and courage he displayed when coming out publicly as a gay man in 2009.

It also didn't hurt that he has one of the best physiques in all of sport.

That chiseled body is on full display on in the upcoming 'Naked Issue" of the UK magazine Attitude. Thomas is on the cover wearing only his hands which strategically cover his private parts.

Marine is killed by  fellow Marine

The details are sketchy, but the following is known: two Marines argued near what is called Barracks Row in Washington, DC. One is dead, while the other is in police custody.

As reported by a local ABC news station (Channel 7), Marines Philip Bushong and Michael Poth had a verbal altercation early in the morning of 21 April. According to police, Poth used a homophobic slur against Bushong and allegedly stabbed him.

Randy Phillips talks about coming out on YouTube

Last April, four months after President Barack Obama signed the bill getting rid of Don't Ask, Don't Tell,  an anonymous solider started putting videos on YouTube. The presentations were shot from the neck down, and the reason for them was simple: Randy Phillips wanted to tell family, friends, and colleagues who he was.

'The whole point of this video is to come out. That’s even hard to say,'  Phillips said in that very first video.
