Star Trek star Zachary Quinto says gay marriage is 'unstoppable wave' in the US

'I think we have a lot more work to do, but I think everybody's unified behind the cause'

At the Washington DC screening of Star Trek Into the Darkness this week, Zachary Quinto said that he believes marriage equality is an 'unstoppable wave' in the US at this point.

The openly Quinto, who plays Mr. Spock in the popular film series, says he has no desire to become a politicians but he did campaign for President Barack Obama's reelection and is an outspoken advocate for gay marriage.

UK gay rights campaign Stonewall’s iconic message goes intergalactic as new Star Trek film premieres in London

The message ‘Some people are gay. Get over it!’ has been plastered over buses and worn on t-shirts. And now it has been translated into Klingon.

To celebrate the London premiere of the new Star Trek film Into Darkness, British gay charity Stonewall has boldly gone where no gay rights message has gone before with the translation of their iconic slogan.

In Earth text, the Klingon reads as: ‘Rut nga’chuq loDpu’, rut nga’chuq be’pu’. YiqimHa’!’

'It [is] bolder, I think, than the first one, and that was pretty big and bold'

Zachary Quinto will be seen on movie screens again next spring as pointy eared Mr. Spock in the next Star Trek film.

The actor, who came out publicly as a gay man last year, first starred opposite Chris Pine on the Starship Enterprise in 2009 and the result was a worldwide hit that grossed $385.7 million worldwide.

He has finished filming his part in the sequel and he expects it to surpass the first installment.
