NOM congratulates Gingrich for his South Carolina victory

The National Organization for Marriage is pleased with Gingrich, Romney, and Santorum

The National Organization for Marriage offered its congratulations to Newt Gingrich for his win in the South Carolina primary.

The anti-gay marriage group also voiced its support for the winners of the races in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Gingrich wins South Carolina primary

Gingrich, who would ban gay marriage, takes the South Carolina primary

As reported by the Associated Press, Newt Gingrich has won the South Carolina primary.

The third election in the 2012 Republican primary, seemed never to be in doubt. Multiple TV news organizations called it for the former House Speaker right after the polls closed at 7 pm , EST.

According to AP, former Gov. Mitt Romney came in second. Rick Santorum, an ex-senator, is third, and rounding the four man field is Rep. Ron. Paul.

Iowa polls show a tight race

The only constant in the Republican primary is that most of the candidates have enjoyed, and lost, a surge in the polls.

In early summer Rep. Michele Bachmann, after her win in the Iowa Straw poll, was the flavor of the month. This past fall, pizza man Herman Cain vaulted to the top tier. Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, was briefly the leader of the pack. Now, with the caucus only days away, Sen. Rick Santorum is riding a wave of support.
