Maltese courts have recognized the European Court of Human Rights ruling that trans women can marry male partners

A transgender woman has won the right to marry her partner in Malta.

Joanne Cassar, whose battle to marry her long-term male partner lasted seven years, was prepared to go to the European Court of Human Rights.

According to Malta Today, she initially won a ruling in her favor, but a higher court in Malta overturned the verdict.

West Ham United winger Matt Jarvis has become only the third pro-footballer to appear on the cover of Attitude magazine and says he is sure that there are players who are gay and when they come out it won’t be a shock

West Ham United’s Matt Jarvis has become only the third professional footballer to appear on the cover of Attitude magazine.

David Beckham was the first professional player to do so in 2002, followed by Freddie Ljungberg in 2006.

In its January issue, Jarvis tells the magazine that today’s football community is not homophobic and would accept gay professional players.

When asked if players should come out, Jarvis told Attitude, ‘Yeah, of course.’

Gay Celebrity Big Brother host Brian Dowling says he will treat rumored contestant Jim Davidson with 'respect', despite the pair coming to blows in the past.

British comedian Davidson, who is known for his anti-gay and racist jokes, is expected to go into the infamous house when the UK version of the show returns tomorrow (3 January).

The disgraced star was once booted off reality series Hell's Kitchen after launching into a homophobic tirade against fellow celebrity cook and current Big Brother presenter Dowling.

A young woman was beaten so badly in Alabama on Thanksgiving Day (22 November), allegedly by her girlfriend's brother, that she will require reconstructive surgery on her face.

Mallory Owens, 23, is being treated at USA Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama, for injuries to her face.

Three people were questioned for nearly a day over allegedly spreading rumors that a famous Lebanese TV personality is gay

Lebanese police in Beirut questioned three people yesterday (16 October) for allegedly spreading rumors that TV presenter Joe Maalouf is gay.

In July, Murr TV’s (MTV) celebrity Joe Maalouf’s made allegations on his program Enta Horr that authorities are protecting ‘faggots’ and ‘perverts in cinemas’ which he described as ‘safe havens’ of ‘debauchery’, demanding swift action by the authorities against them.

Thirty-nine-year-old singer says she wants to set an example for her son

Australian country singer Beccy Cole will come out publicly as a lesbian for the first time in televised interview tonight.

Cole was interviewed with her two country singer friends, Kasey Chambers and Gina Jeffreys, for Australian Story, a regular program on national TV channel ABC.

‘I think for years Beccy has had this secret, that she really does want people to know about but didn’t really know when was the right time and how to do it too,’ Jeffreys says on the program.

Thousands of Costa Rican LGBTs and their supporters have taken to the streets to protest the appointment of a Human Rights Commission president who actively opposes gay rights

Thousands of LGBT Costa Ricans and their supporters took to the streets of San Jose on Saturday morning in what they called a March of the Invisibles to protest for the rights of marginalised people and to ensure the separation of church and state in the country.

The march was the culmination of an online campaign which saw 15,000 people sign a petition calling on the president of Costa Rica’s Human Rights Commission, Justo Orozco, to resign.

Pastor Justo Orozco, leader of Costa Rica's human rights committee, has 'evidence' that being gay can be reversed

The leader of Costa Rica's human rights commission publicly claimed homosexuality is a sin that can be cured.

Justo Orozco, a Protestant minister and legislator, told national newspaper La Prensa: 'Unfortunately I do believe that, because it was written in the Bible,' said Orozco.

'I have evidence. Here in churches in the province of Heredia I know someone like that who became straight.'

In fact most scientists and leading health bodies agree that gay 'cure' therapy does not work and can actually do serious damage.

Canadian police have identified 33-year-old Justin Jun Lin as the man brutally killed and then dismembered sometime last week

Police in Canada confirmed a Chinese student studying in Montreal had dated a porn actor who killed him and sent his body parts to the country’s top political parties.

Justin Jun Lin, a 33 year-old from the central Chinese city of Wuhan, has been identified as the victim of suspected bisexual killer Luka Rocco Magnotta, now on Interpol's wanted-persons list, police said in a statement on Friday (1 June).

The first man to ever marry his gay partner on Italian soil is now thinking about marrying someone else.

Alessio De Giorgi, editor in chief of LGBT website Gay.it, told Gay Star News: ‘I’d like to marry my partner Lorenzo. It’s a possibility, we are thinking about it.’

De Giorgi separated from his previous partner, Christian Panicucci, in 2007.

Jose Orozco says suit will allege abuse of power, malicious prosecution, defamation and more

The ugly split between Pinal County Sheriff and Arizona congressional candidate Paul Babeu and ex-boyfriend Jose Orozco just got uglier.

Orozco alleges that after their split, Babeu asked him to sign an agreement not to publicly discuss their relationship. When he refused, he says Babeu and his lawyer threatened the Mexican national with deportation.

Orozco, 34, has said he is in the US on a 10-year tourist visa and that Babeu never asked him his legal status despite the lawman's strong political stance against illegal immigration.

One of Europe’s most celebrated football coaches, José Mourinho, has been caught on camera apparently making a gay slur.

Mourinho is currently coach of Spanish superclub Real Madrid, he was previously at Chelsea in Britain, and is nicknamed ‘The Special One’.

He made the comments while kicking a ball around on a snowy soccer pitch in Moscow on Monday (20 February), prior to the Champion’s League match between Real Madrid and Moscow yesterday (21 February).

A builder who erected model penises outside a man's house has been fined for homophobic abuse.

Michael Parkes pleaded guilty to using threatening words and behaviour at Bristol Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The court heard how the 34-year-old, from Bristol in the UK, who was absent from the hearing, was working on a house in Bourneville Road with another builder on 12 March, when neighbor Richard Ives asked if he could take his washing inside before they started work.

The retiring U.S. congressman to wed longtime partner

Barney Frank, the first openly gay member of the U.S. House of Representatives, is getting married to his longtime partner Jim Ready.

The couple, who met six years ago, have not yet set a date.

The Massachusetts congressman isn't providing any further details but he told Charlie Rose in an interview earlier this month: 'I have a partner now. I’m in love for the first time in my life.'

Frank is 71 and Ready is 42.

A man who falsely accused X Factor judge Louis Walsh of sexually assaulting him has been jailed.

Leonard Watter, a dance teacher from Navan, Co Meath, in Ireland, was sentenced to six months in prison over allegations that the pop music mogul groped him in Dublin nightclub Krystle last April.

Tributes pour in for Eric James Borges who killed himself on Wednesday.

A gay teen who worked for a US suicide prevention group has killed himself just weeks after making a video for the It Gets Better campaign.

Eric James Borges, from Visalia, California, commited suicide on Wednesday, sadly despite interning for The Trevor Project, a national organization which provides suicidal LGBT youngsters with support.

Last month 19-year-old Borges, who is also an aspiring filmmaker, posted a YouTube video for the It Gets Better campaign, aimed at preventing suicide among LGBT youth.
