Take That’s Gary Barlow was so desperate to get noticed in his early career, he sent topless pictures to gay music bosses.

The British singer was keen to land himself a record deal in the 1980s and was sending out a load of demo tapes.

When that didn’t work, he figured out he should send half-naked pictures to attract the attention of some music bigwigs.

And it worked.

Nigel Martin-Smith, the gay former Take That manager, took an interest in the young straight singer.

The British singer, who has previously claimed he would like to have had a fling with a man when he was younger, has said he identifies with gay men because he ‘loves musicals’.

‘I love musical theatre and a lot of other things that are often associated with gays,’ he told the Daily Star.

In his new record Swings Both Ways, the lyrics poke fun as his camp, 'gay' persona. There have been rumors for years about the Take That star's sexuality.

‘I want to balance the sides. I’m a straight person pretending to be gay. I’ve had a lot of people to imitate. It’s easy when you’re British, we’re camp by nature anyway,' he told the Sydney Telegraph.

Take That star Robbie Williams has teased eager fans with a potential title for his new album, 'Robbie Swings Both Ways'.

Revealed with a new teaser poster, the new album is likely to be a follow up to his first swing album ‘Swing When You’re Winning’ released in 2001.

The first swing and jazz record hit number one in the UK, Germany and New Zealand and featured a duet with actress Nicole Kidman.

British pop singer Robbie WIlliams points to pregnant wife as proof he's not gay

British pop singer Robbie Williams used his appearance at GQ's Men of the Year awards to bury persistant rumors about his sexuality and crack a gay joke about John Travolta.

The former Take That member attended the ceremony with his pregnant wife Ayda Field.

'I was Googling myself today and the first search that comes up is gay,' Williams admitted.

'I’ve got a wife that’s pregnant so that’s put paid to that one,' he said before joking that he could be deep in the closet doing the 'full John Travolta'.

He says he chose the cover of Seven Nation Army as the first single because of the song's iconic beat.

Gay X Factor finalist Marcus Collins has given fans a tantalising taste of his debut album and it's already creating a buzz in the Twittersphere.

The five-minute preview of the self-titled album on YouTube features original songs, as well as cover versions of Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher by Jackie Wilson and Tightrope by Janelle Monae.

It also includes a track written by Collins' X Factor mentor, judge and Take That frontman Gary Barlow, who also executive produced the album.

The Angels singer - who is happily married to actress Ayda Field - was asked during a two-hour website interview how much money he would want to have gay sex and he joked it wouldn't be as much as everyone thought.
