The 17 million viewers result in highest-rated episode of 20/20 in 15 years

Bruce Jenner's interview with Diane Sawyer on Friday earned ABC's 20/20 its highest ratings in 15 years and also exploded on Twitter.

The two-hour program garnered just under 17 million viewers - one of the biggest audience on a Friday night for a non-sports special since 2003.

During the show, Jenner discussed beginning the process of publicly transitioning to female at the age of 65.

The Jenner interview was the highest-rated for a 20/20 episode since a 2000 interview with John and Patsy Ramsey, parents of murder victim JonBenet Ramsey.

Olympic champion turned reality TV star talks about his 'journey' with Diane Sawyer in interview tonight

The day for the airing of Bruce Jenner's highly-anticipated interview with Diane Sawyer has finally arrived.

'It’s going to be an emotional roller coaster but somehow I’m going to get through it,' Jenner says in the latest in a series of promos. 'I want to know how this story ends…you know… how does my story end?'

Sawyer appeared on ABC's Good Morning America and The View Friday to hype the two-hour special during which Jenner is expected his to publicly disclose that he is transitioning to female.

The inaugural LGBT Week NYC – a week of business-related LGBT and marketing conferences – draws to a close tomorrow (24 Apr).

As well as hosting events at the New York City headquarters of Google and Microsoft, organizers were yesterday given the honor of ringing the closing bell at Nasdaq in Times Square.

It was nearly nine years ago that then CNN Headline News anchor Thomas Roberts came out publicly as a gay man at a gathering of fellow journalists in Miami.

His career suffered some setbacks after he went public but it is now in high gear with Roberts anchoring a two-hour show on MSNBC each weekday that has helped the network's ratings grow in the time period.

Openly gay anchor took over two hour block formerly occupied by Ronan Farrow and Joy Reid

No one can say that Thomas Roberts hasn't paid his dues.

For more than a year, the newsman rose well before dawn to host MSNBC's Way to Early and to appear on the show that follows it, Morning Joe.

But three weeks ago, Roberts was moved to the afternoon shift on the cable network to take over a two-hour time block that had been formerly occupied by Ronan Farrow and Joy Reid.

In his first two-and-a-half weeks, Roberts has quickly more than doubled the ratings of Farrow and Reid who have been given other assignments at MSNBC.

Thomas Roberts, a rising star at MSNBC for several years now, launched a new two-hour news program this week and finally his name is in the title.

MSNBC Live With Thomas Roberts replaced the canceled Ronan Farrow Daily and The Reid Report in the cable network's 1-3 pm timeslot. It takes Roberts off of morning duties on Way Too Early and Morning Joe.

Gawker.com writes that Smith had brought 26-year-old male producer to an intimate company picnic last summer and later approached Fox News president Roger Ailes about coming out publicly.

Roberts will also be regular presence on the network's Morning Joe show

Thomas Roberts will be setting his alarm clock a lot earlier beginning 23 January.

The MSNBC anchor, one of the highest-profile openly gay journalists in television news, has been named host of the network's Way to Early show and becomes a regular contributor to Morning Joe.

Way to Early airs weekdays at 5:30 am (Eastern time) and is followed by the three-hour Morning Joe program. He replaces Brian Shactman as host.

When he filmed a cameo role, as himself, in last year's blockbuster hit The Avengers, MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts would have no idea that he would be the only LGBT representation in any Disney film in 2012.

That distinction was brought to light last month when GLAAD released its first annual Studio Responsibility Index which showed a dwindling number of LGBT characters in movies released by Hollywood studios last year.

President of anti-gay organisation America’s Survival Inc calls on TV news anchor Shepard Smith to reveal his sexuality

An anti-gay organisation's president is calling for Fox News anchor Shepard Smith to come out of the closet.

Cliff Kincaid, president of America’s Survival Inc, gave a lecture at the National Press Club, in which he called for Smith to come out, on Tuesday (27 August).

Smith is anchor of Fox Report with Shepard Smith and Studio B weekdays on the Fox News channel.

Kincaid noted how Out Magazine named Smith and CNN’s Anderson Cooper on their ‘Power List’ as one of the most powerful LGBT figures in the media.

Miami ceremony to be performed by MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts

Sam Champion, weather anchor of ABC's Good Morning America, officially married Rubem Robierb in New York City last Friday (21 December) but that was only the first step in the wedding march for the couple.

They have headed down to Miami, Florida, where they will have a New Year's Eve ceremony with a more festive, party atmosphere.

Miami is Robierb's hometown and it was at a New Year's Eve party that the couple first met.

The ceremony will be conducted by MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts, a fellow newlywed.

Tricia Macke, a news anchor for the Fox affiliate in Cincinatti, Ohio, is under fire for calling MSNBC's lesbian anchor Rachel Maddow an 'angry young man.'

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and Equality Ohio have launched a petition calling on Fox 19 to condemn comments made last month by Macke on her her Facebook page.

The engagement was reported in a New York Times profile on Champion's friend, MSNBC's Thomas Roberts, who married longtime partner Patrick Abner last weekend.

California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom performs ceremony in NYC

The setting was the rooftop of Manhattan's Gansevoort Hotel on Park Ave. as MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts married his longtime partner, Patrick Abner, in New York City over the weekend.

The couple exchanged their vows in a ceremony Saturday (29 September) performed by Gavin Newsom, the Lieutenant Governor of California and former San Francisco mayor who in 2004 authorized same-sex marriages in that city which were later annulled.

'The BEST night ever with Patrick Abner,' Roberts tweeted after the ceremony. 'Thanks to the most amazing friends and family.'
