Christian Voice claims God intervened on supermarket’s share price in view of gay pride grant

Extremist British Christians are claiming their God is punishing Tesco for supporting gays after the supermarket reported declining sales.

The dip in like-for-like Christmas sales has seen £5billion ($7.6billion €6billion) wiped off the market value of Britain’s biggest supermarket chain which had previously had an 30-year unbroken record of growth.

Tesco has denied it is dropping support for LGBT pride events in London, despite Christians claiming they have forced the retailer into a u-turn on the issue.

The retailer – which is the UK’s largest supermarket chain – remains booked up as the £30,000 ($47,000 €36,000) sponsor of the family area at this year’s London event which is also the official World Pride for 2012.

Religious group calls for action after 'evil Christians' online comment

A religious group is calling for a boycott of Tesco this Christmas in protest at a comment about ‘evil Christians’ made by an employee on the Flickr website three years ago.

The Christian Institute has provided it followers with the email address of the supermarket chief executive Philip Clarke and a link to its Facebook home page saying: ‘If you won’t be shopping at Tesco this Christmas, tell them.’
