Russian Orthodox priest Alexander Shumsky is glad his country has been knocked out of the World Cup because he says the event is homosexual propaganda.

Shumsky has warned that the bright colored shoes warn by teams are promoting the ‘gay rainbow’ and has dubbed the World Cup a ‘homosexual abomination.’

A picture of an Italian journalist holding up a flag saying 'Love Is Love' in Russia has gone viral.

In late October, Enrico Procentese, an Italian photographer and travel blogger, was in Russia on behalf of Conde Nast Traveller.

He was inspired by British actress Tilda Swinton, who held up a gay pride flag in front of St Basil’s Cathedral in Red Square in July 2013.

A top Russian lawyer has come out as trans to protest the ‘gay propaganda’ law.

Masha Best, the chair of the Association of Russian Lawyers for Human Rights, is speaking out in Russian media to oppose the federal ban.

‘The law banning gay propaganda among minors is completely wrong,’ she told the Moscow Times.

A ‘gay kissing day’ demonstration outside the Russian State Duma today ended in violence, as Christian Orthodox activists assaulted gay and lesbian protestors.

Gay and lesbians activists kissed today (22 January) in front of the Duma in protest of its plans to legalize a nationwide ban on so called ‘gay propaganda’.
