Liberace's former lover Scott Thorson talks about their relationship while he faces prison for burglary and identity theft

The man whose book is the basis for the upcoming HBO film on entertainer Liberace will not be able to watch it. His prison doesn't have the channel.

Scott Thorson, Liberace's ex-lover, has been in a Nevada jail since this past February. He is charged with buying a computer and cell phone with a credit card that wasn't his. Last Wednesday (8 May) he pleaded guilty and asked to be placed in a rehabilitation program. Punishment could range from probation to 2 to 30 years in prison.

Mississippi newborn the first to be cured of HIV infection

The doctors of an HIV infected  baby have announced they have cured the child.

As reported by the New York Times, the infant was born in rural Mississippi (a southern US state). Antiretroviral drugs were administered approximately 30 hours after birth. This type of procedure is uncommon with newborns, but could  turn into standard procedure if the case is confirmed.

Scores of prominent republicans sign legal brief to US supreme court in support of gay marriage and opposing H8 and DOMA

At least 75 leading Republicans signed a brief to be submitted to the US supreme court aruging that gay marriage is a constitutional right.

According to The New York Times, who got a copy of the document, signatories include top advisers to former president George W. Bush, four former governors and two members of congress.

US viewers of Downton Abbey are still reeling from the tragic end to season three which has a beloved family member killed in a car accident.

But the season also had plenty of drama among the downstairs characters such as gay footman Thomas (Rob James-Collier) nearly losing his job after kissing fellow footman Jimmy (Ed Speleers).

Series creator Julian Fellowes says that what Thomas went through during the most recent season went a long way toward explaining why the character is so surly.

The film's director, David France, says he believes the success of the film may have been responsible for The New York Times quickly amending Koch's obituary earlier this month to include his inaction during the AIDS crisis that had gripped his city during his terms as mayor.

Grammy-winner plans to write 'in remote locations for the next two years'

Grammy-winner Frank Ocean said in an interview published in the New York Times last week that he plans to write 'in remote locations for the next two years', starting with Shanghai.

As well as music, Ocean said that he has started writing a book. 'It's fiction, and it's about brothers,' he said in the interview.

Ocean's comments indicate that he plans to avoid the limelight after a high profile eight months. Today he tweeted: 'step awayyy from the media'.
