Disney characters have been stripped of their innocence and shown to be living in the real world, under real pressures by artist José Rodolfo Loazia Ontiveros

Some of our favourite Disney characters have wished upon a star and realized just how gay they are.

From Hercules and Aladdin playing mouth-to-mouth to fairytale princesses turned lesbian, Mexican artist José Rodolfo Loazia Ontiveros has re-written straight fairytales with gay twists.

Dubbed Disasterland, the set of artworks shows how Disney characters would fare in the real world and succumb to the pressures of modern day life, and their gay desires.

Gay rights activist and her girlfriend marry in double bridal white wedding in Tokyo Disneyland

When Japanese gay rights activist Koyuki Higashi contacted Tokyo Disneyland last year to ask if they would host her wedding to her girlfriend it sounded like an awareness-raising stunt, but in fact she did dream of a white wedding at Disneyland and last Friday the dream came true.

'My partner Hiroko and I just held a gay wedding at the Tokyo Disney Resort. Even Mickey and Minnie are here to celebrate with us!' said Higashi in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of the new wives with the Disney characters, that was retweeted 6,000 times.

George Kalogridis joined company in 1971 busing tables at Orlando resort

Walt Disney World has a new president - and he's openly gay.

George Kalogridis began his new position as head of the Orlando, Florida, resort last Friday (1 February).

He's now the top boss of approximately 66,000 employees at a resort where he began working back in 1971 as a busboy at one of the theme park's resorts. He was just 17 and was hired before the then brand-new theme park had even opened.

Florida Family Association calls wedding of X-Men characters Northstar and Kyle 'immoral social propaganda'

Don't expect The Florida Family Association to send a wedding gift to newlyweds Northstar and Kyle whose wedding was featured in Astonishing X-Men #51 published last month.

The group blasts Marvel Comics and parent company The Walt Disney Company for the June issue of the comic book and asks its members to send emails urging Disney, Marvel and comic retailers to pull the issue from the stands.

Departure of Rich Ross comes after massive box office failure of John Carter

The reign of Rich Ross as the first out head of a major movie studio has proven to be short-lived.

On Friday (20 April), Ross stepped down at chairman of Walt Disney Studios after less than three years on the job. His departure comes in the wake of the box office disaster John Carter which is expected to lose the studio arond $200 million.

In a letter to his staff, Ross wrote of the 'very difficult decision to step down' after realizing that the job was not the right fit for him:

The Florida Family Association plans to fly banner warning families

The anti-gay group Florida Family Association is seeking donations to 'warn families' about the unofficial 'Gay Day' taking place at Walt Disney World on June 2.'

'How would you feel if you entered the Magic Kingdom anticipating a normal day of fun with your family only to witness thousands of same-sex couples holding hands, hugging, kissing and wearing tee-shirts that promoted their lifestyle?' the group asks on its website.
