Olympic torch to light fire in hearts of gay rugby club

Chairman of King's Cross Steelers 'couldn't be prouder' to carry the Olympic torch through streets of East London on Sunday

Members of London's gay rugby club, the King's Cross Steelers, are preparing to celebrate their chairman's role as an Olympic torch bearer on Sunday (22 July).

Tim Sullivan, who led the East London-based Steelers to become the European champions in gay and inclusive rugby last year, will carry the iconic flame through the streets of Havering Borough.

Gay athletes chosen to carry Olympic flame

Chairman of the London's gay rugby team, Tim Sullivan, and chair of Gay Football Supporter's Network, Chris Basiurski, selected from over 37,000 nominations for London 2012 glory

Tim Sullivan, chairman of London's gay rugby team King's Cross Steelers, and Chris Basiurski, chair of Gay Football Supporters' Network (GFSN), have been selected to carry the Olympic torch in the London 2012 torch relay.

Both athletes have been actively involved in London-based gay sports teams for many years.
