British Olympic diver has revealed he is not fazed when people ask him for gay sex on Twitter

British diving Olympian Chris Mears has explained the reasons why he decided to strip off for a gay magazine’s photo shoot.

He wants to steal Tom Daley’s gay fan base.

In an interview with Gay Times, the 19-year-old straight heartthrob joked: ‘I’m trying to steal his gay fan base by doing this shoot for GT!

‘I know people through Tom who are gay and I’m good friends with them.’

Welsh footballer Daniel Thomashas been fined £500 for tweeting homophobic abuse about British Olympic divers Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield.

A disciplinary panel from the Football Association of Wales also suspended the 28-year-old Port Talbot midfielder for one match.

The decision comes after the Crown Prosecution Service ruled out prosecuting Thomas in September, saying it was a 'one-off offensive Twitter message'.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has ruled out prosecuting Thomas today (20 September), saying it was a 'one-off offensive Twitter message'.

The full statement reads: 'This was, in essence, a one-off offensive Twitter message, intended for family and friends, which made its way into the public domain.

Gay diver Matthew Mitcham came just shy of going through into the Olympic final on the 10m diving platform today (11 August).

The Australian, who won gold in Beijing four years ago, could be seen in tears after realizing he had faltered his final dive in the semi-finals.

With only 12 places up for grabs, Mitcham came 13th with 482.40 points.

Instead Chinese world champion Qiu Bo came top once again, with British favorite Tom Daley coming fourth with 521.1 points.

Why gay diver Matthew Mitcham is one of Australia’s best gold medal hopes in the Olympics and an icon for gay sportspeople

If you are to believe Wikipedia of the 11,028 athletes that competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics there were only eleven athletes that were openly gay. That’s about 0.1%.

While there is no guarantee that representation of gays and lesbians at Olympic level will have increased by the time the 2012 Olympics in London roll around, one athlete that we can look forward to seeing in action is openly gay diver Matthew Mitcham from Australia.
