Company policy appears to be misunderstood with transgender people told they will have to visit out of usual opening hours to use changing rooms at New Look

A young trans woman was left upset and puzzled after being told she couldn't use the changing rooms at international fashion chain store, New Look.

M (whose name has been withheld at her request) was visiting the chain’s branch in Brixton, south London, England where she spent half an hour browsing, picking up clothes before heading to the changing room.

There, she says, her way was barred by a staff member who challenged her explicitly, stating: ‘Oh, you are a man.’

Five transmen win a court case in Seoul to get gender officially recognized without needing a genital operations

A court in Seoul has ruled that transsexual South Koreans can amend their gender on official documents without having to go through genital-altering surgery, Korea Times reports.

Five transmen filed the case in a district court. One of the five said he had had a hysterectomy but felt that there are medical problems that arise from removing sex organs. He has been living as a man for 23 years.

Scottish transgender man admitted to 'obtaining sexual intimacy by fraud' in two cases, meaning he will face jail time

A transgender Scottish man was sentenced for obtaining sexual intimacy by fraud yesterday (6 March).

Chris Wilson, 25, from Aberdeen, was accused of failing to tell two teenage girls his gender history and real age.

The Edinburgh High Court heard one of the girls was aged between 15 and 16 when she first met Wilson in 2008, when he was 20.

The possibly underage girl found out the truth when another girl from Stonehaven emailed her a copy of Wilson’s passport – which gave Wilson’s birth name Christine. The two kissed but it went no further.

Thai Transgender Alliance demand response from IKEA Global on 'negative and stereotypical' advert

Thai Transgender Alliance have sent an open letter to IKEA to complain about a 'negative and stereotypical' advert.

The offending advert, called Luem Aeb (meaning 'forget to deceive'), was broadcast on Bangkok's sky train system from 28 December 2012 to 13 January 2013 and on YouTube.

'The MTF transgender/transwomen character is openly mocked as being "deceitful",' read the open letter to IKEA from Thai Transgender Alliance.

Despite judge's earlier comment about the 'hope of home detention', transgender woman is sent to male prison for over two years

A transgender woman is being sent to a men's prison in New Zealand after she pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to injure.

The trans woman, who was referred to as Glen Cooper in court, had requested to serve her prison time as home detention as her lawyer said she could face abuse the other inmates in a men's jail.

Another trans women was murdered in Turkey, bringing the 2012 toll to six

A trans women from Beylikduzu in Istanbul was shot last Saturday, tragically extending 2012's list of murdered transgender women in Turkey.

Gunce Hatun, a 19-year-old who worked as a sex worker was shot dead on the street, said Kemal Ordek a Turkish steering committee member for Transgender Europe.

Turkish news reports say that police arrested a man who is a driver for a private bank. He claimed Hatun tried to force her way into his car.

This brings the number of murder trans women in Turkey this year to six.

Andy Marra spoke about her experiences in an interview on National Public Radio broadcast yesterday.

During the interview Marra spoke about how a few days after she met her birth mother in South Korea, her mother told her she sensed there was something worrying her.

Fox's The Cleveland Show showed a man vomiting for a lengthy period of time after discovering he had slept with a transgender person. FX's Nip/Tick had an entire season of a psychopathic trans woman depicted as a baby-stealing sexual predator who sleeps with her own son.

A touching video about a Thai opposite-gender couple who both happen to be trans

The Bangkok post has made a touching video about a loving couple who both happen to be transgender.

Trans woman Sittichai ‘Pond’ Suafug and trans man Benhamaporn ‘Ben’ Rotjutakul met five years ago and on Valentine’s Day this year Ben proposed.

The couple are unusual among LGBT couples, because they are registered as opposite sexes on their birth certificates, they are able to legally get married in Thailand.

Brighton and Hove Council have denied they plan to ban the use of Mr and Mrs on official forms after it found itself at the centre of a national media frenzy.

Reports in The Mirror and Daily Mail accused the coastal city in south-east England of 'political correctness gone mad' for its 'barmy' proposals.

But in the Green Party led council's official response, they insist that no proposals have yet been put together.

Guatemalan transgender woman Linda Elizabeth Tylor Martinez has spoken out about being forced to live in two worlds.

In a profile interview with The Associated Press, Martinez works as a male schoolteacher during the day and as a female prostitute at night.

‘In the beginning it was out of necessity because I was still getting my teacher’s license,’ she said.

A US TV show featuring a man who claims anti-baldness drugs made him transgender has been slammed for 'sensationalizing' an already marginalized group of people.

The talk show hosted by gay news anchor Anderson Cooper touts the interview with trans woman Mandi as an exclusive.

In a publicity statement for the segment, due to be aired on Anderson Live tonight (13 September), the program makers say Mandi's ex-wife will also speak about how the gender identity 'transformation' has affected their son.

Campaigners will march in Copenhagen to stop the deportation of Fernanda Milan who fears she will be attacked, tortured and killed if sent back to Guatemala

Campaigners will march through the streets of Copenhagen to protest the deportation of trans woman Fernanda Milán back to Guatemala, where she fears she will be attacked and killed.

Activists will demonstrate in the Danish capital's Kongens Nytorv square on Saturday (8 September) at noon, where there will also be political speeches and music.

Guatamala has a shocking reputation for transgender hate crimes. A 2010 report showed that 13 transwomen were murdered over one year.
