Beca Trans will help 45 transgender women study a technical career or matriculate in universities throughout five Peruvian cities

A coalition of Peruvian LGBT groups have started Beca Trans, a scholarship program for transgender women.

The Homosexual Movement of Lima (MHOL), one of Latin America's leading LGBT organizations started in 1982, has teamed up with AIDS group Vía Libre and the Runa Institute of Gender Studies and Development (RUNA) to offer 45 transgender women the opportunity to complete their studies.

A campaign has been launched to save transwoman Fernanda Milan from deportation back to Guatamala from Denmark.

Guatamala has a shocking reputation for transgender hate crimes. A 2010 report showed that 13 transwomen were murdered over one year.

Milan came to Denmark in search of a better life, but her treatment when she first arrived was far from what she hoped. She was placed in the men’s wing of an accommodation center for asylum seekers, where she was raped by several men.

Tiffany Gooden, 19, is second transgender woman to be murdered in US city's West Side in last four months

A transgender teenager in Chicago has been found stabbed to death just four months after another trans woman was murdered nearby.

The 19-year-old was found dead in an abandoned building in the city’s South Austin neighbourhood, reported CBS Chicago.

Tiffany Gooden is the second black transgender woman to be murdered in the area in the last two months.

Transgender man Luke Anderson has won the public vote to be named the winner of Big Brother UK 2012.

The 31-year-old chef from Wales has become the 13th winner of the reality TV show, joining the likes of Cameron Stout, Kate Lawler and current Big Brother host Brian Dowling.

After leaving the house last night (13 August), Anderson told host Brian Dowling: ‘I don't think it's sunk in yet. A big part of it was about acceptance. All my life I've been an outsider. Thank you so much.’

YouTube clip allegedly showing trans woman being mugged in Thailand gets 100,000 hits in two days

A video which allegedly shows two men punching a trans woman and stealing her phone in Thailand has sparked outrage from viewers.

The 14-second YouTube clip, which has already been watched nearly 100,000 times since it was posted on Sunday (22 July), shows a young man posing for a photo with a woman who its creator Nart Nontasak claims is a 'ladyboy'.

Suddenly the man turns round and punches the woman in the face before being seen running away clutching a mobile phone which the YouTube user claims is her BlackBerry device.

A pre-op MTF transgender in Hong Kong is going to sue a Christian narcotics school for contributing to the delay of her gender reassignment operation by a decade.

The 24-year-old who identified herself only as ‘C’ was forced by her parents in 2002 to enter Christian Zheng Sheng College, according to local tabloid Apple Daily.

A transgendered Miss Universe Canada finalist is seeking legal advice after being abruptly ousted from the competition.

Allegedly disqualified for being a trans woman, Jenna Talackova, a 23-year-old Vancouverite, issued a statement to QMI Agency on Sunday (25 Mar) that she would seek legal guidance before giving an interview.
