'I'm a person who believes in standing up for his friends'

True Blood actor Joe Manganiello has revealed why he is such a staunch fighter for LGBTI equality.

'I had to watch my friends endure challenges not experienced by the straight community,' he said last weekend in Seattle while accepting the Ally for Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign.

Manganiello shared how he saw friends in school struggle with their sexuality and having their families not accept them and later he saw friends struggle in the job market or live in secret.

Anna Paquin, currently starring in the seventh and final season of HBO's True Blood, says her marriage to co-star Stephen Moyer doesn't mean she's no longer bisexual.

Paquin was discussing her marriage this week on Larry King Now and was asked by the host: 'Are you a non-practicing bisexual?'

Paquin replied: 'Well, I am married to my husband and we are happily monogamously married.'

King: 'So you were bisexual?'

The characters of Jason Stackhouse and Eric Northman had not shared a scene together - alone - on HBO's True Blood until the most recent episode which premiered on Sunday (29 June).

They made it a scene to remember.

Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and vampire Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) hook up at the start of the episode in a dream sequence that leaves little to the imagination.

Actor Luke Grimes left True Blood because his character was set to have a gay relationship, it has been reported.

The Taken 2 star joined the supernatural series in the sixth season and unexpectedly quit the role of vampire James in December 2013.

He blamed ‘creative differences’ with the show’s producers over his character’s direction.

Nathan Parsons replaced him in the season seven premiere, which aired in the US on 22 June. It appears the character is going to have a romantic relationship with gay character Lafayette.

Oscar winner Anna Paquin, who plays a telepathic vampire lover on HBO’s True Blood, has given birth to twins.

A spokesperson for Paquin and her husband, True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer, did not reveal the exact birth date or the sex of the children.

'The babies were born a few weeks early, but are in good health and both mom and dad are overjoyed,' the spokesperson said.

The film Liz and Dick, also featuring True Blood actor Grant Bowler, tells the tumultuous love story between classic movie actress Elizabeth Taylor and Welsh actor Richard Burton.
