Activists are raising money and funds for food for homeless LGBTI kids

Did learning a homophobic family-owned pizzeria has received over $800,000 leave a bad taste in your mouth?

Well some gay activists are hoping to fill it with goodness once again as a campaign has been launched to help raise money for LGBTI homeless kids.

The campaign, called #Pizza4Equality, is hoping to beat the $842,000 given to Indiana restaurant Memories Pizza after the owners said they would use the 'religious freedom' law to turn away LGBTI business.

Kindergarten students at a Los Angeles school show their LGBT love by singing the gay icon’s song to family and friends 

A class of five- and six-year-olds showed some serious heart performing Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors at their graduation.

The kindergarten class at Olympic Primary Center in Los Angeles used American sign language, rainbow-colored sashes and mirrors with signs that said ‘you are perfect’ in their final message to the world before moving on to the First Grade.

In addition to performing, Lauper has become one of the staunchest LGBT allies in showbiz with her Give a Damn campaign, her True Colors tours and True Colors Fund.

The 'Time After Time' singer will be honored as co-founder of the True Colors fund

Singer Cyndi Lauper will be honored by the US government for her LGBT advocacy.

The ‘Time After Time’ pop star will be given the prize by US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day in Washington DC on 9 May.

Lauper co-founded the True Colors fund to bring an end to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender homelessness, and inspire straight people to become active participants in the advancement of LGBT equality.
