Stonewall report describes how lesbian teen was taunted and set on fire before teachers took action against bullies

A 15-year-old lesbian pupil describes how she was set on fire by school bullies in a Stonewall report which shows UK teachers are not doing enough to stop homophobic bullying.

According to the study, which is published in full today (5 July), three in five lesbian, gay and bisexual pupils who are bullied at secondary school said that teachers who witnessed the incident never intervene.

Complaints about 'spot the trans' advert upheld in UK

A TV advert which asked viewers to 'spot the trans' at a horse race has been deemed offensive by the UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

The advert by UK and Ireland bookmaker Paddy Power showed women at the Cheltenham Festival - a prestigious horse race in England - and invited viewers to decide whether they are 'stallions' or 'mares'.

Today (16 May) the ASA upheld complaints that the 30-second TV spot was offensive and condoned harmful discriminatory behaviour, ruling that the advert must not be shown again in its current form.

The L Project release charity single It Does Get Better to help fight gay bullying.

A group of UK lesbian musicians are releasing a charity single to combat homophobic bullying.

The L Project will release the single It Does Get Better on February 11 and will donate every penny raised from sales to anti-bullying charity Diversity Role Models and gay rights group Stonewall.
