British politician Samuel Fletcher seems to think 'part-time homosexuals' exist - they don't

Some have struggled in the past to fully embrace the rich diversity of the LGBTI community.

But one man, Samuel Fletcher, is perhaps the most baffled man alive.

A UKIP councillor for Bracken Bank and Ingrow Ward in Keighley, he seems to believe bisexual and trans people are ‘part-time homosexuals’.

In the past, he has also accused LGBTI people of being 'strange', and saying British society has become 'far more complex and harder to immediately understand since it became socially acceptable to be openly homosexual'.

While disagreeing with a colleague who believed Britain's floods should be blamed on gay marriage, a European Parliament hopeful thinks business owners should be able to turn away LGBTs and women

A UKIP politician believes business owners should be allowed to refuse to serve gay people.

Donna Edmunds, a Lewis district councillor and European Parliament hopeful, said all business owners should be allowed to refuse service to anyone they want for whatever reason they want.

Under UK law, the Equality Act 2010 protects people who access services from direct discrimination. This applies to disability, pregnancy, race, religion, or if they are LGBT.

Local councilor David Silvester who said floods across Britain were caused by same-sex marriage equality has called on gays ‘to repent’ at a council meeting.

Silvester remains part of Henley Town Council, a prosperous town in southern England and home to the world-famous rowing regatta, despite being kicked out of the UK Independence Party because of his comments.

A UKIP councilor who blamed recent flooding on gay marriage has been expelled from the party, it emerged minutes ago.

Town councilor David Silvester, from Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, was suspended by the party on 19 January.

The UKIP politician, who left the Conservative party over their plan to introduce same-sex marriage, made his comments in a letter to his local paper the Henley Standard.

David Silvester, the former UK politician who blamed gay people for flooding, has said he has no plans to resign.

The 73-year-old UKIP councilor was suspended from the party following his offensive comments about gay people earlier this month.

While he says he has had 70 messages of support from fellow Christians and UKIP members, more than 12,000 people in Henley have signed a petition calling for him to resign.

However, Silvester has refused to apologize.

A British Member of the European Parliament has claimed she revealed her trans identity over threats made by journalists and members of the United Kingdom independence Party to out her.

 

Nikki Sinclaire, who is believed to be the UK's first openly trans parliamentarian, made the announcement during an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live's Victoria Derbyshire.

A British member of the European Parliament has revealed she is a transwoman.

 

Nikki Sinclaire MEP, a former member of the United Kingdom Independence Party, revealed she had undertaken gender reassignment surgery over 20 years ago in her autobiography, Never Give Up.

 

Sinclaire believes this makes her the UK's first trans parliamentarian.
