In as many days, 2 UK political candidates have left their respective parties after their homophobic Twitter messages were unearthed.
David Bishop, a Tory candidate who hoped for election in Brentwood South, Essex, had to step down from his position after his anti-gay and racist tweets were revealed.
On 13 April, Bishop retweeted this message: ‘How CAN a gay guy keep a straight face?’
He was also exposed as tweeting anti-Islamic messages.
‘#Islam 'the religion of peace' & rape’ he tweeted on 27 April.
