A British party leader has been accused of being homophobic on the day the British public cast their vote in the General Election.

A video released by the Daily Mail shows Nigel Farage, leader of the anti-European UK Independence Party (UKIP), giving a best man’s speech at his younger brother’s wedding in July 2001.

During the speech, Farage tells a joke in which he appears to refer to gay people as ‘fags’ while also referencing the death of a man at openly-gay Michael Barrymore’s house a few months before the wedding.

Party say leaflet is not of a high enough standard to represent 'the UKIP brand'

A group supporting UKIP has handed out homophobic leaflets claiming LGBTI people ‘recruit’ children to turn them gay.  

Christian Soldiers for UKIP, a group set up by Christian members of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), distributed leaflets attacking same-sex education in British schools at a husting event in East Anglia.

In February, the same leaflet circulated on the UKIP party conference, according to the Mirror.

Nigel Farage has fired back at claims that UKIP is anti-gay following the publication of its Christian manifesto.

In the manifesto, titled 'Valuing Our Christian Heritage', the party revealed it would offer legal protection to those who oppose same-sex marriage on religious grounds in the workplace, if it wins the 2015 general election.

Let’s get this straight (if that is not, given the subject, too unfortunate a turn of phrase!). UKIP has produced a manifesto that would give workers with traditional views on sex and marriage the right to refuse to carry out tasks which they believe would amount to condoning same-sex unions.

This, they claim, is no more than standing up for traditional Christian values. Alongside Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party (the DUP) – likewise not renowned for embracing diversity – they are enthusiastically endorsing 'muscular Christianity'.

The 72-year-old was cautioned for the minor assault

Police have cautioned a UKIP councillor after he allegedly slapped a gay campaigner and told him to 'fuck off'.

David Braniff-Herbert was distributing anti-UKIP leaflets in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, when the incident at around 11am on Saturday (18 April).

He was with campaign group Hope Not Hate at an arts centre when he claims he noticed two people taking pictures of people leaving the building.

These people were councillor Tom Andrews and a colleague.

When you pick a place to have your new office, it's all about location, location, location.

So when UKIP, the right-wing anti-immigration British party, chose a new premise for its office in Luton, they picked some odd neighbors.

The Greenhouse gay sauna, which also holds regular fetish nights, is right next door alongside a Turkish takeaway, a Lebanese restaurant and a Polish shop.

Bob Clements, election agent for UKIP, has said: '[The sauna] has got nothing to do with us, we are not bothered.

UKIP trans politician Kellie Maloney has u-turned to support same-sex marriage and families and says her party must do the same or they are ‘cavemen’.

Before she transitioned, the former boxing manager and promoter stood for the right-wing British party in the London mayoral elections but refused to campaign in the borough of Camden because there are ‘too many gays’.

She told the BBC: ‘I don’t want to campaign around gays... I don’t think they do a lot for society... what I have a problem with is them openly flaunting their sexuality.’

'Cabaret of diversity' protest held inside one of the right-wing leader's favorite pubs

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has branded a group of LGBTI activists 'scum' after they interrupted him during his Sunday visit at the pub.

Around 100 people, claiming to represent everything loathed by the right-wing, Eurosceptic party, descended on the Kent pub in fancy dress as an act of protest.

Calling themselves a 'cabaret of diversity', the group included LGBTI people, HIV activists, migrants, disabled people and breastfeeding mothers.

Alan Turing-style pardon will be for men who had consensual sex when homosexuality was still illegal will be pardoned

Thousands of men who had consensual gay sex when homosexuality was still illegal in the UK are closer to being officially pardoned today.

Bisexual Liberal Democrat MP and Justice Minister Simon Hughes today said he is hoping the government will pass the necessary legislation before the May General Election.

If not, he announced it will be part of the Liberal Democrat election manifesto. The party may still hold the balance of power after May and enter another coalition government.

The leader of UKIP LGBT group has quit and left the party 'due to the leadership's failure of the leadership to set a gay-friendly tone.'

Tom Booker, who manages a hydrotherapy pool in Peterborough, led the group for three years.

'Last night I stepped down as Chairman of LGBT* in UKIP and gave up my membership of #ukip. I'll remain unaffiliated...for now,' he tweeted on 24 February.

Welsh politician is under investigation for a comment on the BNP website

A Welsh UKIP politician is under party investigation for endorsing an anti-gay statement on the British National Party website.

Donald Grewar, parliamentary candidate for Newport East, left an approving comment under a statement that described gay people as 'fascist perverts' and 'pedophiles.'

'Well said... sadly this will all come to fruition in the very near future. We need to resist and stand our ground,' he wrote.

A UKIP spokesperson said the party was investigating the matter.

Anti-gay backbenchers have said in a letter they are 'alienated' Tories have little chance of winning the next General Election in May 2015.

The letter has been sent as dozens of gay couples have already this week converted their civil partnerships to marriages under the new UK government laws.
