UKIP politician Kerry Smith has claimed referring to gay people as 'poofters' and Chinese people as 'chinky' would not offend anyone from where he is from in London.

The candidate for South Basildon and East Thurock was revealed to have made homophobic and racist remarks and joked about shooting poor people last week.

In recordings of phone calls, he described gay party members as 'disgusting, old poofters', referred to someone with a Chinese name as 'chinky' and said shooting working-class people would be like a 'peasant hunt'.

HIV activists embraced in a gay kiss as they dumped half a ton of cow dung outside the South London office of UKIP.

They were disgusted by UKIP leader Nigel Farage and other politicians in the party saying people living with HIV should be barred from coming to Britain.

The World AIDS Day (1 December) protest symbolizes a rebirth by the London chapter of ACT UP (AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power), a group which has had been less visible in the UK in the last decade.

Under a picture of Jesus was the caption: ‘He didn't die for Queers, nonces and left-wing culturally Marxist perverts. Wake up Britain and grasp the truth!’

The comments were met with shocked comments and anger from Twitter users.

Former boxing promoter Kellie Maloney has said she now regrets her homophobic comments, saying at the time she thought it was a 'joke'.

The 61-year-old, who once ran as a UKIP candidate for London Mayor, has said coming out as a trans woman has made her more wiser and more tolerant of other people in the LGBTI community.

When she was campaigning in 2004, she said she would not go to Camden as there were 'too many gays'. She said, pre-transition, that she had a problem with them 'flaunting their sexuality'.
