A 2012 contender to become the Republican's presidential candidate, Jon Huntsman, has appealed to Republicans to embrace the issue of marriage equality and start fighting for it in their home states

Former Utah governor and contender to be the Republican Party’s 2012 presidential candidate Jon Huntsman has announced his support for marriage equality just months after another contender declared same-sex marriage to be inevitable

Huntsman made the announcement via a February 21 op-ed in the American Conservative magazine.

‘While serving as governor of Utah, I pushed for civil unions and expanded reciprocal benefits for gay citizens,’ Huntsman wrote.

The recriminations and post mortems are in full swing. At least Newt Gingrich has the honesty to admit being ‘far off’ wrong.

A recent poll revealed out of thousands of gay Americans, 41% said they had donated money to political campaigns

A poll has revealed 90% of gay men and women voted for President Barack Obama to win the election, which he did last night (6 November).

The Community Marketing & Insights poll surveyed thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender United States voters, across all 50 states, to find out who they will vote for.

In other survey results, 95% of gay people said they would vote in the election, and 41% said they had voted before election day.

US VP speaks out for transgender rights in Florida, where Mitt Romney leads President Obama in electoral votes by 1%

US Vice President Joe Biden addressed transgender rights at an Obama for American office in Sarasota, Florida on Tuesday (30 October).

According to the Huffington Post, Vice President Joe Biden commented on transgender discrimination to a woman in the crowd names Linda Carragher Bourne.

Bourne told the vice president her daughter was Miss Trans New England, a teen pageant that according to their website is 'not affiliated with the Miss American Organization in any way'.

While appearing before TV writers with fellow cast members of the all-star edition of ABC's Dancing With the Stars last month, Bristol Palin was asked if she would mind if she were paired with an openly gay male dancer in the competition.

Palin, star of the Lifetime reality show Life's a Tripp, said that just because she believes in 'traditional marriage,' does not mean that she's a 'homophobe.'

Bristol Palin wanted to talk about being chosen for the cast of ABC's Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars.

But the daughter of former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was asked on Friday (27 July) about her feelings about gay people when the cast was announced during the TV Critics Association summer press tour.

'I like gays,' Palin told a roomful reporters which included Gay Star News. 'I'm not a homophobic. Just because I'm for traditional marriage.'

Little Tripp Palin uses anti-gay slur on mother's reality show (UPDATED)

In US reality show news, Bristol Palin's son knows at least one anti-gay term.

Life's a Tripp follows Palin as she tries to raise her only son. The small lad is the grandson of former Governor Sarah Palin. In the below clip, he's angry with his aunt for some reason, and calls her an anti-gay slur. Both adults in the room are shocked, and amused, by the language.

'I'm doing a terrible job disciplining Tripp,' Bristol Palin notes.

Obama's campaign manager's 2002 political ad comes under scrutiny

Jim Messina, President Barack Obama's campaign manager, is facing scrutiny for a 2002 political spot that is considered homophobic.

The ad was for Senator Max Baucus of Montana, who was facing a challenge from Republican Mike Taylor. As reported by Buzzfeed, the commercial used porno music and a montage of Taylor's old men's cosmetic line. The spot ended with an edited crotch grab.

'Mike Taylor: Not the way we do business in Montana,' a voiceover intones.

President Barack Obama talked about his 'evolution' in gay marriage and called for the US Congress to pass a fully inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act at an LGBT Pride Month reception he hosted at The White House today (15 June).

Obama, who last month became the first sitting president in US history  to publicly support gay marriage, touched on his landmark endorsement during his remarks to guests in The East Room.

President Barack Obama, facing a tough reelection fight against presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney this fall, released a new campaign video on Wednesday (23 May) highlighting his record on LGBT issues.

The video, narrated by Glee star Jane Lynch, includes footage from Obama's recent interview with ABC's Robin Roberts during which he publicly supported gay marriage as well as video of his It Gets Better video and footage from his appearance at the Human Rights Campaign dinner a few years ago.

Earlier this month, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton called on nations around the world to recognize that 'gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights' during a speech during a speech before diplomats in Geneva, Switzerland.

Her message was enthusiastically endorsed by President Barack Obama but it's no accident that Clinton's boss didn't make that kind of speech himself.
