US Vice President Joe Biden praises LGBT community during visit to Provincetown

'You have summoned the courage to speak out, to come out. We owe you'

US Vice President Joe Biden, paying a visit to Provincetown, Massachusetts, over the weekend to headline a pair of fundraisers, had high praise for the area's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents.

'Many of you have advanced civil rights at great expense,' he said. 'If I had to use one adjective to describe this community it'd be courage. You have summoned the courage to speak out, to come out. We owe you.'

Cynthia Nixon marries Christine Marinoni

Sex and the City star had fought for marriage equality in New York

Cynthia Nixon is a married woman.

The Sex and the City star and Christine Marinoni, her girlfriend since 2004, tied the knot on Sunday in New York. Few details about the nuptials have been revealed except that Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.

Nixon met Marinoni after she had ended a 15-year relationship with photographer Danny Mozes, the father of her two oldest children. Marinoni gave birth to a son in February 2011.
