Scouting official acknowledges the resort's 'views do not currently align with the BSA and they are choosing to discontinue this level of support'

Walt Disney World Resort has stopped contributing to local Boy Scouts of America chapters in Florida because of the organization's continued ban on gay leaders and employees.

The BSA began to allow openly gay members at the start of the year but the inclusion ends when a scout turns 18.

Yesterday's (5 October) Orlando Pride parade ended the only way a day of fun can: with  a firework display.

Held in the  hometown of Walt Disney World Resort, and other major tourist attractions, the entire affair is the largest LGBT-organized event in Florida.

Orange County mayor who opposed gay marriage to also appear at event

The hometown of Walt Disney World Resort and other major tourist attractions is the site of the largest LGBT-organized event in Florida this weekend: Come Out With Pride Orlando.

The event's musical headliner is Steve Grand, a guy who burst onto the scene over the 4 July weekend when he posted a YouTube video of hos song All-American Boy and it went viral.

Grand performed a song on the pride festival's official opening night ceremonies on Thursday (3 October) and returns Saturday (5 October) - the festival's main day - to perform a full set.

George Kalogridis joined company in 1971 busing tables at Orlando resort

Walt Disney World has a new president - and he's openly gay.

George Kalogridis began his new position as head of the Orlando, Florida, resort last Friday (1 February).

He's now the top boss of approximately 66,000 employees at a resort where he began working back in 1971 as a busboy at one of the theme park's resorts. He was just 17 and was hired before the then brand-new theme park had even opened.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, Ellen DeGeneres, Peter Thiel, Ryan Murphy, and Rachel Maddow are top 5 - Anderson Cooper #6

Out.com unveiled its annual Power 50 list of LGBT individuals on Thursday (26 April) and placed Apple CEO Tom Cook at the very top of it.

Cook was followed on the list by talk show host and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres. Rounding out the top five are venture capitalist and hedge find manager Peter Thiel, Glee creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy and MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.

Departure of Rich Ross comes after massive box office failure of John Carter

The reign of Rich Ross as the first out head of a major movie studio has proven to be short-lived.

On Friday (20 April), Ross stepped down at chairman of Walt Disney Studios after less than three years on the job. His departure comes in the wake of the box office disaster John Carter which is expected to lose the studio arond $200 million.

In a letter to his staff, Ross wrote of the 'very difficult decision to step down' after realizing that the job was not the right fit for him:

The anti-gay group Florida Family Association is seeking donations to 'warn families' about the unofficial 'Gay Day' taking place at Walt Disney World on June 2.'

'How would you feel if you entered the Magic Kingdom anticipating a normal day of fun with your family only to witness thousands of same-sex couples holding hands, hugging, kissing and wearing tee-shirts that promoted their lifestyle?' the group asks on its website.
