British singer Will Young felt shame over his sexuality, leading him to become depressed, single and addicted to porn

British pop star Will Young has said his hidden shame about being gay made him depressed, single and addicted to porn.

He made his comments to British newspaper Metro.

Openly gay Young, began 2011 on a high as his latest album took the number one spot, but since then it has been a downward spiral of misery.

'It got to the stage last year where I though I was on top of work, that everything would be all right,' he said.

Gay pop star and actor Will Young was evacuated from a Manchester theatre yesterday (26 September).

The Pop Idol winner was starring in the new touring production of Cabaret, when a fire scare forced everyone out of the northern English city theatre during the interval of the matinee performance.

Young’s co-star Ian Parsons revealed what happened on Twitter, saying: ‘Interval fire alarm at Cabaret this afternoon.

‘Outside in costumes and makeup right in front of the audience.’

British gay pop star, Will Young, has announced today (1 June) that the fourth, and final, single from his number one album, Echoes will be I Just Want a Lover.

The video sees the pop star working in a supermarket, on the checkout, stacking shelves and pushing (and then dancing) with trollies, in a sequence that appears to be lifted straight from a Fred Astaire musical.

Ever since winning the first series of the UK talent show Pop Idol in 2002, Will Young has been one of the UK’s most popular and successful music artists, selling over 9 million albums.

Gay pop star Will Young will make his London West End stage debut in Cabaret as the enigmatic Emcee.

The singer, who shot to fame after winning the British version of Pop Idol in 2002, says he is 'very excited' about the challenge of starring in the iconic Kander and Ebb musical.

'I have spent the last 10 years, singing, dancing and acting all separately. For the first time I get to do all three in one show,' the Jealousy hitmaker said.

Gay singer-songwriter Will Young’s debut has topped a list of the bestselling singles of the 21st century in the UK.

Revealed by BBC Radio 1 in a list of the 150 bestselling singles, Young’s first single Evergreen/Anything Is Possible sold over 1.7 million copies.

Young slammed the double-A singles last year, calling them ‘dreadful’.

He said: ‘I can't bear 'Evergreen' or 'Anything is Possible', they're absolutely shocking. And you wouldn't believe the amount of money that was spent on those videos. F**king hell! Dreadful videos.

Gay pop star shares his love for creating 'naff' merchandise

Will Young wants to create an ironing board emblazoned with his image that loses its clothes as it heats up.

The 'Keep On' hitmaker is heavily involved in the creation of his merchandise and he loves coming up with 'naff' ideas for new products, and his dream fan item is the naughty piece of domestic apparatus.

He told BANG Showbiz: 'I have a lot of involvement with my products.

'The thing I really want is an ironing board where the clothes come off [with the heat from the iron] but they were too expensive to make.

Gay British singer is planning a soul vibe for his next album

Will Young wants his next album to be ‘a bit more soul’.

The Jealousy hitmaker went in a more dance music influenced direction for his recent Echoes album, but is planning to add a little of a different sound onto his next disc.

He told DigitalSpy.co.uk: ‘I want to start writing again. I actually met up with [band] Kish Mauve the other day and we got really excited about writing a record.

‘Maybe it'll be a bit more soul-ey next time. I wouldn't mind going a bit more soul.’

The gay singer will run the 26-mile course through the UK capital's streets in aid of Catch22.

Partner invited on stage at Will Young’s gig at the Palladium to ask ‘will you marry me’?

British pop singer Will Young helped bring a lesbian couple together when he invited one of them on stage to propose.

Young was performing at The Palladium in London on 12 December when he took time out from his set for the proposal.

He told his fans: ‘Cat would like to come on the stage to ask Lorna a question.’

Cat then said: ‘Thank you for the happiest seven years of my life darling, I love you with all my heart. Would you please marry me?’

She said yes.
