The ex-owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kevin McClatchy, has come out in a newspaper interview.

The heir to a newspaper chain sat down with the New York Times to explain why he stayed in the closet when he ran the team, and what he hopes will happen for LGBT people involved in professional sports.

'You’re not going to solve any problem until you start a dialogue,' he said to the newspaper. 'And there’s no dialogue right now.'

After the Australian Olympic champion promises to dive naked if he wins, Mitcham, Daley and world number one Qiu Bo qualify in the first heat

Gay diver Matthew Mitcham has qualified to go to the semi-finals after preliminary heats on the 10m diving platform at the London Olympics.

With 32 divers and six rounds, divers across the world came to the British capital to compete for 18 spots in one of the final competitions of the games.

The previous Olympic champion at Beijing four years ago, the Australian scored an impressive 456.2 points and finished in ninth place.

British favorite Tom Daley had a shaky fifth dive, and finished with 448.45 points in 15th place.

Only gay sportsman representing Britain in equestrian event edges Germany

Carl Hester, the only gay sportsman representing host nation Britain in the 2012 Olympics equestrian event, was part of the dressage team that won the gold medal today (7 August).

The win by Hester, Laura Bechtolsheimer and Charlotte Dujardin resulted in Britain's 20th gold medal of these Olympics. They finished in first place ahead of Germany in the competition at Greenwich Park.

It is the first medal for Hester who had gone home empty-handed at past Olympics in Athens, Sydney and Barcelona.

Out athlete Josh Dixon will participate in US Olympics Trials

Josh Dixon is one step closer to participating in London's Summer Olympics.

The US gymnast came in 13th at this weekend's Visa Championship. That means he qualifies for the Olympics Trials, to be held in his hometown of San Jose, California. He will be battling for one of the six sport for Team USA. The competition will be held from June 28 to July 1.
