At the Washington DC screening of Star Trek Into the Darkness this week, Zachary Quinto said that he believes marriage equality is an 'unstoppable wave' in the US at this point.

The openly Quinto, who plays Mr. Spock in the popular film series, says he has no desire to become a politicians but he did campaign for President Barack Obama's reelection and is an outspoken advocate for gay marriage.

So much so that the real estate mogul and television personality staged several publicity stunts indicating that he had secret birth place information about Obama - none which ever came to pass.

When early election returns had Obama trailing in the popular vote against Republican opponent Mitt Romney on Tuesday (6 November) but leading in the electoral college, Trump went on a Twitter tear.

Out actor says choice for US president is 'fundamentally clear'

Zachary Quinto is having trouble understanding why the the race for US president between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney remains so close.

'The choice in this election is so fundamentally clear,' the openly gay actor said on the Chelsea Lately show on Tuesday night (23 October). 'I feel like Mitt Romney's reptilian self is barely able to suppress itself as we get closer to this election. That debate (Monday) night was so clear for me. How anybody could spin it that Obama did anything other than clean the floor with that guy last night, I have no idea.'

Entertainment Weekly cover story shines spotlight on new quiet and effective ways to go public

It used to be that when a major star came out as gay, they got an entire magazine cover to themselves.

Ellen DeGeneres got the Time cover, Lance Bass and Clay Aiken got People covers and Sean Hayes was among the many stars to have gotten an Advocate cover.

In the current issue of Entertainment Weekly which hit newsstands Friday (22 June), eight openly gay celebrities share the cover for a 'special report' called The New Art of Coming Out.

Dan Savage to anchor with guests Zachary Quinto, Chaz Bono and more

MTV and its sister network Logo are preparing an It Gets Better special to air on Feb. 21.

It will be hosted by syndicated columnist Dan Savage.

The one-hour special, which will air on both channels, will focus on the struggles of three LGBT youth.

It is an outgrowth of the It Gets Better video project launched by Savage in 2010 which has resulted more than 30,000 videos of encouragement for LGBT youth facing harassment.
