It's been hinted at in recent months but it was not official until this week's season finale of Kingdom.

The character of boxer Nate Kulina, played by the very gay-friendly Nick Jonas, is gay.

Viewers of the Direct TV drama find out about his sexuality after Nate is rejected from a gay bar and ends up hooking up with a guy who performs oral sex on him.

UK newspaper Independent on Sunday has published the annual Rainbow List today, showcasing the most influential LGBTI people in the UK today 

UK newspaper the Independent on Sunday has today published the 2014 Rainbow List.

The annual list showcases 100 of the most influential LGBTI people in the UK.

The paper revealed how hard it was to reduce a total of 4,390 entries to just 101 stars who have made the final list.

‘The result honours those who have long and brave histories of standing up for equal rights, even when equality wasn’t even legal,’ writes the newspaper.

New LGBTI group Black Rainbow has formed to address prejudice inside Australia’s Indigenous community after a leading aboriginal sportsman attacked homosexuality as not being part of his culture

A group to combat homophobic prejudice against LGBTI people in Australia’s Indigenous community has been formed in response to Australian boxer Anthony Mundine saying being gay was incompatible with Indigenous culture.

Black Rainbow describes itself as a group of, ‘strong and fabulous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lesbian, gay, bisexual, sistergirl (transgender) and queer people who would like to highlight our existence and the positive roles we undertake in our communities.’

Cruz is 'giving thanks to my heavenly father for one more day of life and with [my] husband'

Orlando Cruz, the first openly gay professional boxer in history, is a married man.

Cruz and José Manuel Colón were married over the weekend in New York's Central Park.

The ceremony was officiated by New York City Councilmember Melissa Mark-Viverito and the witnesses were Pedro Julio Serrano of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and Shirley Casiano, according to Washington Blade.

Middleweight champion Boxer Anthony Mundine has lashed out at the inclusion of a gay Indigenous Australian character in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) TV series Redfern Now, saying homosexuality is incompatible with Aboriginal culture.

‘Watching Redfern now and they promoting homosexuality!’ Mundine posted to Facebook.

‘Like it's ok in our culture… That ain't in our culture and our ancestors would have [their] head for it! Like my dad told me GOD made ADAM & EVE not Adam & Steve.’

According to The Guardian, it was a knock out in the seventh round.

Globally famous gay boxer Orlando Cruz wears rainbow themed colored shorts to highlight LGBT issues in his upcoming world featherweight title match

Orland Cruz, the first openly gay boxer to come out, will wear rainbow-colored shorts and pink gloves for the featherweight world title.

He squares off against Orlando Salido at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Cruz will carry the LGBT equality rights on his clothing with him into the ring on Saturday (12 October).

If he wins he will be the first openly-gay world champion in boxing history.

Out boxer will fight for featherweight title next month

Openly gay boxer Orlando Cruz knows he isn't the only one.

The 32 year old, who came out publicly earlier this year and is engaged to be married, is the first professional boxer to be open about his sexuality during his career.

'Never have other fighters talked with me (about being gay). But I think there are other boxers who are gay but they are scared,' Cruz told reporters this week in Manhattan.

Cruz chose to propose to boyfriend Jose Manuel by posting a video on Facebook Wednesday (14 August) morning.

Lawmaker says he does not know why LGBT people are complaining about the 'gay propaganda' law as same-sex relations are not illegal

Former boxer and a current Russian lawmaker has delivered a knock-out punch to hopes gay athletes and tourists will be free from arrest at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Nikolai Valuev has echoed other Russian politicians by saying the ‘gay propaganda’ will be enforced.

According to Gay Russia, as translated by Gay Star News, he said: ‘The law is above any Olympic committee and will be applied to violators without fail’.

The deputy added: ‘I do not know what [gay] people want? They’re free to do what they want. We do not criminalize homosexuality.’

According to the New York Times the cause of death was kidney failure and complications of dementia.

Orlando Cruz, the world’s only openly gay professional boxer, is one fight away from making gay history.

The Puerto Rican featherweight will take to the ring to face former champ Orlando Salido.

Last Saturday (16 June), Boxing Scene reports how Mexican boxer Miguel García was stripped of his world featherweight title when he failed to make weight.

The vacant title is now up for grabs as the World Boxing Organization has ordered a fight to decide who will become the new number one.

The life of Emile Griffith, the bisexual boxer who killed an opponent, is now an opera.

In 1962 March, Griffith fought welterweight champion Benny 'The Kid' Paret in a nationally televised bout. At the weigh-in, the champion whispered an anti-gay slur in the challenger's ear.

At the time, Griffith's sexuality was whispered about, he was a regular at gay bars near Times Square, but most accepted the straight script offered by handlers.
