A 21-year-old man was left 'devastated' after being attacked by a man in the northern English city's center

A young man was robbed and raped in Manchester city center on 16 March.

The 21-year-old victim was walking home at around 3am when a man threatened him with a bottle, demanding his mobile phone and cash. 

After giving away his valuables, in the busy area near London Road, Piccadilly, the man was then raped.

Manchester Police Detective Inspector Damian Simpson said the 21-year-old was left ‘devastated’ by this attack.

A gang of youths accused of bashing and robbing a young gay man at gun point got more than they bargained for when Oregon Police dispatched a SWAT team to the scene

Five teenagers who allegedly lured a young gay man to a park in Oregon only to bash and rob him got more than they bargained for when local police requested a SWAT team to help them search for the youths after they fled into an apartment building.

24 year old Clackamas man Adam Salnardi was lured to Vance Park on Friday night after arranging what he thought was a date online, but when he got to the park he was instead confronted by five masked teenagers armed with guns.

Two women have apologized for the pain they have caused while they were part of the 'God Hates Fags' church

Two key members of the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church have left the fold and apologized for their past.

Megan Phelps-Roper and her sister Grace, the daughters of lead group figure Shirley Phelps, have left the church known for their ‘God Hates Fags’ signs and the picketing of soldiers’ funerals.

The two sisters pioneered social media in the ‘God Hates Fags’ group, with Phelps-Roper posting parody videos of Lady Gaga’s music videos.

An investigation into smartphone filters reveals some carriers block LGBT sites because they deal with 'mature content'

Some UK mobile phone carriers are automatically blocking access to gay sites.

An investigation by The Telegraph into UK phone carriers including Orange and 3UK showed that some providers prohibit access to certain sites because they deal with 'mature content'.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is calling on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate mass spam texts taking aim at Obama and marriage equality.

Fifteen activists from Curitiba, state capital of Paraná, Brazil report they have been receiving constant death threats

Fiften activists from Curitiba, Brazil have revealed today that they have been receiving constant death threats since the last week of September.

All the threats are of a homophobic nature and characteristic of hate crimes expressing a high degree of cruelty.

They have been being received by telephone at home and at work, by mobile phone, e-mail and social media since the last week of September.

The phone calls are being made from public telephones.

Campaigners call for 'dehumanizing' Meteor cell phone advert to be banned

An Irish cell phone advert which mocks and 'dehumanises' transgender people has been reported to advertising watchdogs.

The 40-second TV spot explains how it's no longer necessary to do silly things to get free internet on your Meteor mobile, listing going to a trans bar as an example.

But campaigners from the Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) don't see the funny side and are calling for the advert to be banned.

'Ireland's trans community should not be used for cheap laughs,' said TENI director Broden Giambrone.

YouTube clip allegedly showing trans woman being mugged in Thailand gets 100,000 hits in two days

A video which allegedly shows two men punching a trans woman and stealing her phone in Thailand has sparked outrage from viewers.

The 14-second YouTube clip, which has already been watched nearly 100,000 times since it was posted on Sunday (22 July), shows a young man posing for a photo with a woman who its creator Nart Nontasak claims is a 'ladyboy'.

Suddenly the man turns round and punches the woman in the face before being seen running away clutching a mobile phone which the YouTube user claims is her BlackBerry device.

After a picture was discovered on a mobile phone, a baying crowd wanted to deal out 'instant' justice before police arrived

Two men in Zimbabwe have been arrested over ‘lurid’ gay pictures found on a mobile phone.

As reported in New Zimbabwe, a man, known only as Andrew, left his phone to charge with people he knew at a mobile phone repair shop in the capital Harare.

One of the employees snooped through the phone and found pictures of him and another man called Esau kissing and embracing in bed. He then called the police, who have confirmed the arrest.

Joan Sandy Achieng allegedly stabbed by girlfriend, then kept hostage by parents, held and forced to marry a man before committing suicide

According to unconfirmed reports a lesbian who was being held hostage by her parents committed suicide in desperation last night in Kenya.

The woman, identified as Joan Sandy Achieng, was living and working in Nairobi until her parents discovered her sexuality, which led them to hold her hostage and marry her off to an older man.

The Iraqi Interior Ministry knew about the plan to massacre ‘emo’ youths and LGBT people and are complicit in up to 100 killings, new evidence suggests.

Gay Star News can exclusively reveal that Iraqi officials had a list of people who were scheduled for slaughter but did nothing to protect them.

And a new list has been posted, naming future targets from Iraq’s student population with the killings due to start tomorrow (11 March) or Monday (12 March).

Controversial street preachers in Adelaide have begun taking their messages of hate on board public transport

Groups of controversial street preachers in Adelaide have begun taking their messages of hate on board the city's trains.

 

Transit staff reported that two male preachers were "abusing" passengers with slogans such as "homosexuals are sinners and women are all sinners" while a third recorded it on a mobile phone.

 

Police were notified and met the train as it arrived at the station. However the preachers left without any further disturbance.

Muggers demand cash in possibly homophobia-motivated attack against Wendelinus Hamutenya

The winner of the first-ever Mr Gay Namibia is recovering from being attacked with a glass bottle after being followed by two men while on his way home.

Wendelinus Hamutenya was hit in on the head, face and ribs in the assault in the country's capital, Windhoek, which led to him being treated in a private clinic for 24 hours.

Gay rights group Out-Right Namibia said it 'strongly condemns the homophobic, and what could be a politically motivated, attack on the first ever Mr Gay Namibia, Wendelinus Hamutenya'.
