Edie Windsor filed the lawsuit that gutted the Defense of Marriage Act and changed the lives of many gay and lesbian couples in the US.

On Wednesday (13 November), Out Magazine named the 83-year-old New Yorker the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement honor as part of its annual OUT 100 issue.

Six years ago the British reality show on Channel 4, Celebrity Big Brother, created a furor for airing racism.

Now its Indian cousin Bigg Boss, hosted by one of highest paid macho stars in the Indian film industry, is under fire for mocking homosexuals.

When Big Boss made its debut in 2005, it made waves in staid Indian society with one of the contestants being a cross-dresser.

Jacob's now-ex partner Harry Louis announces the couple's split on social media

Fashion designer Marc Jacobs has split from his long-term boyfriend Harry Louis.

Jacobs, 50, began dating the 25 year old Brazilian porn star in 2011.

Louis has cited the distance between them, combined with their heavy workloads, as the reason for their split.

Louis posted a picture of the couple together on Instagram, edited to look smashed. He also shared the image on his Twitter account.

However, despite the imagery, Louis insists the couple are still friends.

Full line-up for the British dancing reality competition show has been revealed

British rugby hunk and LGBT ally Ben Cohen is to star on Strictly Come Dancing.

The founder of the anti-bullying charity Stand Up! foundation will be waltzing his way onto the British dancing competition show, it was revealed today (2 September).

He will be joined by gay fashion designer Julian Macdonald, LGBT favorite Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Radio 2 host Vanessa Feltz.

Cohen is one of the first straight professional athletes in Britain to focus his philanthropic efforts for the benefit of the gay community.

Model Nick Gruber is back in New York City, looking for the next chanpter after being the boyfriend of Calvin Klein

Nick Gruber has no problem admitting he and Calvin Klein were a couple, but the 23-year-old model does not describe his sexuality as gay.

In an interview with New York magazine, the former gay porn model discuses growing up, his up and down relationship with the famed fashion designer and his plans for the future.

'I’m not gay, but I don’t believe in labels, I believe in love,' Gruber said to the magazine.

Frank Ocean among few LGBT people chosen by Time in its 2013 list of most influential figures

Anti-gay public figures outnumber LGBT public figures in Time magazine’s ‘100 most influential people’ list for 2013.

The 10th annual list, published yesterday (April 18), includes just three openly LGBT public figures.

They include New York City based fashion designer Michael Kors, President and Creative Director of J Crew Jenna Lyons, and the bisexual singer-songwriter Frank Ocean.

Meanwhile, the head of the New Life Covenant Church Wilfredo de Jesus has made the list.

One of India's top fashion designers Rohit Bal, has announced that his first feature film will be 'like Brokeback mountain' and 'a serious film on two gay lovers'.

Bal told Times of India that his debut feature film would be a more realistic depiction of gay characters than is usually seen in the Indian film industry.

Celebrity Turkish gay fashion designer, Barbaros Şansal, was seriously beaten last night (27 December) in İstanbul, Turkey.

Şansal is well known in Turkey for being an outspoken gay activist and for his use of witty language.

According to daily Hurriyet, the attack, which took place in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, had a political motive.

The Wig Party 2012, being held at hip London nightclub Café de Paris, will raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation has been given a toy land theme this year.

Guests are being asked to be as creative and crazy as they can be to dream up some outrageous toy inspired outfits.

Guests who have attended in the past include pop star Leona Lewis, who described the event as her ‘dream party’ and gay fashion designer Ben de Lisi.

Gay fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld slams Duchess of Cambridge's sister for her looks

Gay fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has lashed out at another celebrity who doesn't fit his limited view of beauty, but this time it's the Duchess of Cambridge's sister Pippa Middleton.

The German artist, famed as head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel, said he doesn't like the 28-year-old's face.

Pippa's bottom caught the world's attention when she was bridesmaid at Kate Middleton's royal wedding to Prince William in 2011 and the Lagerfeld added that she should 'only show her back' because she 'struggles' with her looks.

Ashton Kutcher acts as a gay and Indian character in a series of fake dating videos for a PopChips campaign 

American actor Ashton Kutcher has offended some viewers of a snack commercial by playing a gay stereotype.

Kutcher, known for hosting the television series Punk’d, acts as a French gay character called Darl looking for love in one of a series of fake dating videos.

The video is part of the PopChips campaign, which cost a reported $1.5million (£929,022, €1.14million) launched on Wednesday (2 May).

Out.com unveiled its annual Power 50 list of LGBT individuals on Thursday (26 April) and placed Apple CEO Tom Cook at the very top of it.

Cook was followed on the list by talk show host and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres. Rounding out the top five are venture capitalist and hedge find manager Peter Thiel, Glee creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy and MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.
