English man jailed for two and a half years for stabbing a man who taunted and physically attacked him

A gay hairdresser will be jailed for two and a half years for stabbing a man with scissors after he taunted him over his sexuality.

Lee Howett, 26, who lives in Essex, England, stabbed the man in the shoulder with his hairdressing scissors at Basildon train station.

The incident took place at around 11.15pm on 24 June, The Daily Mail reports.

Addressing the defendant, Judge David Owen Jones said: 'It may be and I accept it probably was the case that one of the young men made a homophobic comment towards you.

Gay teenager Harry came out at the tender age of 13. But his bravery was rewarded not with congratulatory applause and cheers but with bullying taunts.

The 16-year-old from Solihull in England is one of thousands of lesbian, gay and bisexual youngsters whose lives are a ‘daily nightmare’ because of homophobic bullying in the UK’s secondary schools.

According to The School Report by gay rights organization Stonewall, 55% of British youngsters aged between 11 and 18 experience homophobic bullying at school.

Admitting her new muscular physique may not be a hit with the men, she was quick to say women have been showering her with date offers.

Juan Francisco Fernández Cuello is reportedly the fifth homophobic murder for 2012 in the city of Barranquilla

A gay 34-year-old hairdresser has been gunned down by a gang in the port city of Barranquilla, Colombia.

Colombian LGBT groups say the killing of  Juan Francisco Fernández Cuello on Sunday (3 June) is the fifth gay-related murder this year in Barranquilla.

The suspects on motorcycles shot at Fernández Cuello as he left an unidentified venue in the Villa San Pedro area with some friends.

The victim sustained injuries from three bullets and was pronounced dead upon arrival to the hospital.

He set up a vocational school, led a team of volunteers when a typhoon The Philippines in 2009 and, as reported this week, Child Haus, his home for children with cancer has cared for 8,000 children in eight years.

Mr Gay UK donates winnings to Terence Higgins Trust in support of friend with HIV.

Mr Gay UK winner Samuel Kneen has shown he’s beautiful on the inside as well by donating part of his prize money to charity.

The Welsh heartthrob, who was crowned this year’s champion at the gay male beauty contest, gave a portion of his £2,000 winnings to The Terence Higgins Trust (THT) in support of a friend living with HIV.

‘It was traumatic seeing what my friend went through,’ the 22-year-old hairdresser told Gay Star News.

Vera Jadoonanan schemed in order to stay in UK beyond two year student visa

Vera Jadoonanan spent Christmas in a British jail after being found guilty of being in a sham marriage with her gay hairdresser who she had paid to become her husband.

Jadoonanan, a native of Trinidad, had been in the United Kingdom on a two-year student visa but wanted to stay in the country indefinitely.

Authorities said she married the hairdresser in 2006 and agreed to pay him £10,000 (about $5,000).

Melbourne murderer Umit Sengoz asked Peter Harper about dying before killing him

A student stabbed a 63-year-old 123 times after asking the man who he had met on a gay dating site: ‘Did you ever think of dying?’

The pair, who had met on the Gayromeo website in Melbourne, Australia, were engaged in oral sex when 22-year-old Umit Sengoz asked Peter Harper the question, Victoria Supreme Court heard on Thursday (15 December).

Sengoz, who was not out to his family, told his friends that he was going to own Harper’s Lexus soon before setting off to the freelance hairdresser’s home armed with a knife and a change of clothes.

Gay soloist is runner-up in Britain’s top TV singing contest

Gay hairdresser Marcus Collins has come second in the final of British singing talent contest the X Factor, beaten by girl group Little Mix.

The openly gay 23-year-old from Liverpool made it to the final vote after he and Little Mix won the first part of the TV final last night, knocking out soloist Amelia Lily.

The live final was held at London’s enormous Wembley Arena and broadcast on ITV. The prize is a record contract.

Soloist Collins’ songs for the final vote were Higher and Higher and George Michael’s last Christmas.

Gay soloist makes it through public vote and down to the final two of British singing contest.

Gay British X Factor finalist Marcus Collins is through to the final day of the competition.

The 23-year-old hairdresser from Liverpool will join girl group Little Mix in the last day of the contest at London’s enormous Wembley Arena venue while soloist Amelia Lily leaves the competition.

Collins sang Hey Ya as his first song, performing it from the top of a full-size aircraft fuselage.
