GSN travels to Lanzarote to learn how to breathe - apparently we’ve been doing it wrong

It was an early start to catch my flight from London Gatwick to Arrecife, the airport of Lanzarote.

With London bunkering down for another day of freezing weather (it was -2C as I left my flat), I was feeling slightly smug to be flying south and heading for a temperature of 21C.

Anna Leach discovers a week’s yoga retreat in Pai in northern Thailand is more than a great workout

I’d hit 30 and my body was just on it’s way downhill, was my depressing conclusion, unless I took some action. Named after founder Bikram Choudhury who popularized the technique in the 1970s, Bikram Yoga is a derivation of traditional Hatha Yoga. Bikram classes run for exactly 90 minutes and consist of a set series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises. The added element is that Bikram is practiced in a humid heated room - about 40°C.
