A study has taken a 'giant leap forward' in proving there is a genetic link to homosexuality.

The large study, which looked at gay brothers, has added to the view that genes influence a man's chances of being gay, but there's isn't enough concrete results to prove it yet.

Researchers looked at almost 800 gay male siblings. Dr Alan Sanders of the NorthShore University HealthSystem Research Institute in Evanston, Illinois, says his work 'is not proof but it's a pretty good indication' of genes on the X chromosome influencing sexual orientation.

Judge rules that if one partner has life-threatening illness, couples can marry before law goes into effect in June 2014

Same-sex marriage does not become legal in Illinois until next June but two couples were able to exchange vows today (16 December) due to life threatening illness and others will be allowed to follow.

A federal judge has ordered that marriage licenses be immediately granted to all same-sex couples in the state who can provide a doctor's declaration stating that one or both of them is seriously ill enough to possibly not survive until the summer.

Bishop Desmond Tutu wants nothing to do with religions, or gods, who hate gays and lesbians

South Africa's retired archbishop was talking to Agence France-Presse, a French press agency. He was in Cape Town, helping the United Nations launch a gay rights campaign.

'I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this,' Tutu said, as reported by Washington Times.

Boston doctors believe Timothy Ray Brown, the Berlin Patient, was not just a one-off after two more patients are believed to have been 'cured' with cancer treatment

Two men may have been ‘cured’ of HIV in Boston.

The patients, who underwent bone marrow transplants several years ago for cancer, no longer have any detectable levels of HIV in their blood cells.

It is too early to tell whether they are still infected with the virus, so doctors are cautious about saying the two are ‘cured’.

Alexander Mikhailov, Deputy of the Trans-Baikal provincial assembly, said he intends to advance a regional law that would see paratroopers catch gays in the streets and have them dragged to public squares where Cossacks will flog their ‘asses’.

Mikhailov praised a local physician criticizing the recent legalization of gay marriage in some countries in Europe, saying: ‘I would like to call upon all fair-minded people to look at this shame’

Justin Bartha's character's membership revoked for 'homosexual conduct'

The New Normal, the NBC comedy about a gay couple starting a family, is airing an episode this week (26 March) that focuses on the Boy Scouts of America's ban on gay members and leaders.

The episode has the character of David, a gay physician  played by Justin Bartha, volunteering to help out a friend by chaperoning an overnight scouts camping trip.

He agrees to participate despite the concern his TV executive hubby Bryan (Andrew Rannells) who is concerned about the BSA's anti-gay ban.

Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Boimer to lead the cast of long-awaited film about AIDS crisis  written by Larry Kramer

After decades of development, The Normal Heart will begin shooting in New York City later this year to air on HBO in 2014 with Ryan Murphy as its director, the network announced Friday (4 January).

The film is written by Larry Kramer who also wrote the largely autobiographical Tony Award-winning play on which it is based. It is about the rise of the AIDS crisis in New York City between 1981 and 1984.

The transgender author and activist has been struggling with his weight for several years and currently tips the scales at 250 pounds.

Bono, 43, opens up about his weight struggles to ER physician Dr. Travis Stork, co-host of the syndicated television show The Doctors in an episode airing Wednesday (14 November).

Citing the Bible, Judge Bill Graves says transgender men and women are changing their names for 'fraudulent purposes'

An Oklahoma judge has sparked fury after not allowing transgender people to change their names legally.

Local newspaper The Oklahoman reports Oklahoma County district judge Bill Graves, a former state legislator, cited the Bible in disallowing the name changes, claiming trans people are ‘making the changes for fraudulent purposes’.
