The NAACP announces support of marriage equality

The NAACP follows Presidnet Obama's lead and supports same sex marriage

President Barack Obama's marriage rights annoucment is having a ripple effect with black politicians and organizations. The oldest civil rights oganization in the US, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said today (19 May) that its board of directors voted to support marriage equality.

Jealous calls for LGBT and civil rights groups to work together

NAACP leader speaks at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force conference

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, a LGBT rights organization, is holding a four day summit in Baltimore, Maryland.

Called the Creating Change conference,  Ben Jealous, the president and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, was its keynote speaker.

The NAACP is the oldest civil rights organization in the United States.
