ABC Family show about lesbian couple and their large brood has season finale tonight

When the characters of Jude and Connor shared a kiss on an episode of ABC Family's The Fosters earlier this month, they made television history.

Theirs is believed to have been the youngest same-sex kiss on the small screen and these two best friends continue to explore their feelings for each other.

The series follows the lives of the Foster family which is headed by an interracial lesbian couple who are raising a blended family of biological, adopted and foster children.

Scandal star compares fight for marriage equality to fight for interracial marriage

Scandal star Kerry Washington thought she was going to have a podium when she walked onto the stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday night to accept the Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards.

It turns out she didn't need one to deliver a passionate speech about equality that was so powerful that it left the star-studded crowd on its feet.

'I think some stuff needs to be said,' Washington told the audience that included Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Channing Tatum, Patricia Arquette, Viola Davis, Andrew Rannells and Zoe Saldana, among others.

Director Roland Emmerich also honored with special award

There was no shortage of star power at the GLAAD Media Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday led by honoree Kerry Washington and presenters Ellen DeGeneres and Channing Tatum.

DeGeneres took the stage to a standing ovation and quipped: 'This is the largest gathering of gay people in one room since yesterday. So congratulations to us!'

The ceremony was one of several held by GLAAD each year honoring media for fair, accurate and inclusive representation of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives.

Athlete is 25 years younger than actor who is currently filming the movie Daddy

It was just last month that 22-year-old Derrick Gordon made history by becoming the first openly gay NCAA Division 1 men's college basketball player.

Over the weekend, the University of Massachusetts athlete caused a splash of a different sort when he arrived at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York City with 47-year-old actor Gerald McCullouch.

Photos, including one of the two giving each other a kiss on the red carpet, have surfaced including some posted by the pair themselves who clearly had a good time at the high-profile event.

Three-time Grammy winner Debby Boone may be from one of the most famous Christian families in the US but she has become staunchly pro gay.

Boone, whose father is anti-gay singer and actor Pat Boone, attended the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday with lesbian friends and talked about her journey to becoming a Christian who embraces the LGBT community.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o presents awards to winners who deliver emotionally rich acceptance speeches

Fresh off dominating the awards circuit for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o was on the presenting side of things at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday (12 April) in Los Angeles.

Nyong'o was on hand to present the outstanding documentary award and told the crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel: 'I wanted to be here tonight in solidarity with this community.'

She then announced that there was a tie in the category between two very different but very acclaimed films: Bridegroom and Call Me Kuchu.

Grammy-nominated singer Adam Lambert was the star attraction at the GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco over the weekend where Spice Girls member Mel B presented him with the Davidson/Valentini Award.

'We are right in the middle of two generations with two different perspectives but one common thread – love,' Lambert told the crowd at the Hilton Hotel in Union Square.

'With all the differences of opinion both within the LGBT community and elsewhere, the best we can do is to keep it real and to spread a message of acceptance.'

As the recipient of the Advocate for Change Award, Bill Clinton was the star attraction at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday (20 April).

In a speech short by Clinton standards, the former US president gave much of the credit to his evolution on LGBT equality to his daughter, Chelsea Clinton who made a surprise appearance after his speech to present him the award.

He said his daughter 'had a profound impact on the way I see the world. Chelsea and her gay friends and her wonderful husband have modeled to me the way we all should treat each other.'

The Perks of Being a Wallflower  won best film and Raising Hope, American Horror Story and Days of Our Lives took home television prizes at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles Saturday (20 April)..

Wallflower writer-director Stephen Chbosky told the star-studded crowd, which included Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Evans, that he wanted to make a movie that would make kids who felt different feel less alone.

Clinton now calling for demise of DOMA which he signed into law in 1996

Former US President Bill Clinton will be presented with the Advocate for Change Award at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles later this month for his recent work on behalf of marriage equality.

The award, to be presented at a star-studded gala on 20 April, could be seen as controversial to some since it is Clinton who signed the Defense of Marriage Act into law in 1996. He has since called for the law to be struck down.

When Madonna, Anderson Cooper and others walk the red carpet at the GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday (16 March), the New York Post will not be among the news outlets chatting them up.

GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has refused to grant The Post press credentials to cover the New York City event. They cite the paper's 'history of anti-transgender coverage.'

Anderson Cooper may be a major celebrity himself, but the daytime talk show host and CNN anchor can still get a bit starstruck.

On today's episode of Anderson Live! show, Cooper talked with guest co-host Lisa Rinna about receiving the Vito Russo Award later this month at the GLAAD Media Awards.

'I'm incredibly excited,' Cooper said. 'Madonna? Are you kidding me? I sort of don't believe it's true.'

Madonna will be presenting the award on 16 March at GLAAD's award ceremony in New York City.

Presents transgender son Chaz Bono with Stephen F. Kolzak Award

US Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack had already given a very moving tribute to stepson Chaz Bono at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday (21 April).

She talked about how Chaz 'meant the world' to his dad, the late Sonny Bono, who she said was 'watching from heaven.'

'Chaz had the courage to follow his heart and his convictions and that's what true leaders do,' Bono Mack said.

Then, after a video presentation about Chaz, a woman wearing a dramatic afro wig  a wig came onto the stage unannounced.
