Wide receiver Victor Cruz has given a bullied gay teen a tour of the New York Giants locker room as part of the USA Network’s Characters Unite anti-prejudice initiative

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has given 19-year-old gay teen Joey Kemmerling a tour of his team’s locker room – the first time Kemmerling has been back in a locker room since being bullied over his sexuality in middle school after he came out aged 13.

Meeting Cruz, Kemmering told him about how he had told 5 people that he was gay when he first came out but by the time he got to school the next day the whole school had found out.

‘I didn’t realize that until I went into the locker room and everybody stared at me,’ Kemmerling said.

Torrey Smith of Baltimore Ravens writes 'Look at this queen' next to photo of man wearing pink flowery socks

Torrey Smith, a wide receiver for reigning Super Bowl champions Baltimore Ravens, posted a homophobic slur on his Instagram account today.

Next to a photo of an unidentified man wearing pink flowery socks, Smith wrote: 'Look at this queen.'

Smith took to Twitter to respond to the photo first being reported by TMZ.com.

Torn ligament dashed NFL hopes but he played last year with Italian Football League

If Kevin Grayson had not torn a ligament and missed being drafted by the NFL, he might very well have become that US football league's first openly gay player.

Instead, the former star wide receiver for the University of Richmond (2008-2011) played for the Parma Panthers in Italian Football League last season where he was MVP.

Either way, he is now out and proud.

Grayson says he wants other athletes to know 'just because you're gay doesn't mean you can't be the athlete you want to be. Doesn't mean you can't be a star.'

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was asked a simple question by a fan on Twitter: Would he rather lead the league in receiving stats or win a Super Bowl?

Instead of giving a simple answer, White chose to express his feelings in this bizarre way: 'Would u rather be gay or straight come on u know that answer.'
