A man smashed a drink into someone’s face at a New York City gay bar

CCTV cameras captured the incident, alongside the assailant walking into the bar

New York City police are looking for a man wanted in connection with an assault that happened in the middle of a crowded bar last week (3 May).

Dramatic surveillance video released by police shows the moment a man grabbed a full drinking glass and smashed it into the head of a 56-year-old.

The incident happened around 7pm inside Gym Sports Bar, located at 167 8th Avenue, in Chelsea, Gothamist reported.

What do we know so far?

The victim suffered a laceration to the side of the head. Medics transported him to hospital in serious but otherwise stable condition.

It is unknown whether the victim themselves was queer.

The man is described as being between 25 to 30-years-old. Standing at around five foot eight inches, Mohawk hairstyle.

He was last spotted wearing a dark colored sweater, a light colored shirt, gray pants, and black sneakers.
