Aaron Schock’s dad says his son might be ‘a little different’ but insists he’s not gay

The father of Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock is defending his son who announced this week that he is resigning from office.

Dr. Richard Schock tells ABC News affiliate WLS that the media was ‘out to get’ his son because ‘he is a little different.’

‘Aaron wears stylish clothing and yet he’s not gay – and he’s not married and he’s not running around with women,’ the father said. ‘Everyone’s throwing up their arms because they can’t figure out Aaron. So he must be crooked.’

In the past six weeks, the 33-year-old Schock has been under increased scrutiny of his use of campaign and taxpayer funds for such things as private jets, office decor and questionable mileage reimbursement.

The father said ‘if he’s not in jail,’ he believes his son still has a successful future ahead of him.

‘If they’re going to convict him on paperwork, then they’re going to convict him,’ he said. ‘That’s their privilege…They’re out to get him and they’re making issues out of things that really shouldn’t be issues.’
