Nico Tortorella has come out publicly as sexually fluid.
The actor, who is currently one of the stars of the TV Land series Younger, says he’s never hidden his attraction to both females and males.
‘It’s just a fluidity,’ he tells Page Six. ‘We’re all kind of moving into this one situation.’
Earlier this year, Dancing With the Stars champion Nyle DiMarco also used the term ‘sexually fluid’ to describe his sexuality as has Miley Cyrus and Johnny Depp’s 16-year-old daughter Lily Rose Depp.
Tortorella, 27, is currently dating a woman. ‘I’ve never been in any sort of closet … I was never really in the house. I think it’s one thing to hide … and it’s one thing to come out of the closet in a public statement. But I’ve always done me and never been shy … and have been vocal about it.’
The Page Six interview is not the first time Tortorella has addressed his sexuality publicly – it’s just the first time everybody noticed.
Earlier this month he appeared on the podcast The Drop-In with Will Malnati and said his ‘ability’ to love someone is not dependent on what is ‘between [their] legs.’
‘I like to think that I’m label-less of sorts,’ he said then. ‘I fit into a bunch of different boxes but I don’t check off all the things for different boxes.’
‘I don’t see the world as gender binary, right? Man. woman,’ he added. ‘There’s like a whole spectrum of people who fit into all of it and I’ve dated a lot of them. And it’s not about sex for me. It’s about being totally, emotionally connected to somebody.’
On Younger, Tortorella plays Josh who is involved with the lead character played by Sutton Foster who is pretending to be a twentysomething (she’s really 40) in order to keep a job.
