In the image, he’s shown taking a break from playing basketball at Manhattan Beach in California.

Although the gay athlete has not previously revealed his fondness for basketball, it’s not his multi-sport prowess that is prompting attention. It’s more the fact he’s wearing nothing more than a pair of tight shorts.

The accompanying caption on Instagram simply reads, ‘touchdown!’

Adam Rippon – social media star

Rippon’s popularity has not diminished since this year’s Winter Olympics in South Korea. His role in Dancing With The Stars ensured he remained in the public eye and his witty comments and self-depreciating humor on social media has earned him hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter and Instagram.

His comfort with stripping down has also been appreciated by some fans. A couple of months ago he posed naked on the ice for ESPN’s body issue.

Earlier this week, Rippon revealed that his Finnish boyfriend, Jussi-Pekka Kajaala, may soon be moving to the US. The two met via Tinder last fall.

The time apart is hard,’ he told People magazine. ‘But we have a lot going on, so we make it work.’

He said Kajaala had been wanting to relocate to the US anyway, but he’s ‘trying to make it happen a little bit faster’ since the pair’s relationship took off. Unfortunately, the bureacratic process of moving to the US is ‘a little harder than you think,’ admits Rippon.
