Canada’s newly-elected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made the internet love him even more by posing for a photo with the family of a gay Liberal MP.

Long-time LGBTI activist Laurent McCutcheon posted the adorable picture, which has been shared more than 3,000 times on Facebook since Sunday (8 November) morning.

‘Congratulations to Scott Brison, the new president of the Treasury Board, and Maxime St. Pierre, fathers of twins, Claire and Rose. Photo with Justin Trudeau,’ he wrote in French.

‘Few countries are as open as you see here.’

‘His openness makes me love him even more,’ wrote one commenter.

‘A PM who doesn’t shy away from calling himself a feminist, who not only takes a photo with a gay couple (one of whom controls the country’s purse-strings) and their kids, but is proud to do so!’ said another.

Trudeau ousted Canada’s long-time Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper in a surprise victory last month.

During his campaign, he pledged to appoint more LGBTI people to government, and appointed Brison to his 30-person cabinet last week.

Brison came out in 2004 and is Canada’s longest serving gay MP.
