US singer Alexander O’Neal has reportedly left the Celebrity Big Brother house in the UK after clashing with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
Viewers saw the 61-year-old use a homophobic slur against Hilton in Saturday’s coverage (17 January).
A spokesperson for the show has said O’Neal has walked out of the house.
Hilton, famous for his blog on Hollywood gossip and outing closeted celebrities, has been involved in several altercations with other members of the house.
Last night, viewers saw O’Neal call Hilton a ‘faggot.’
‘You’re going to sit there with that silly ass faggot look on your face!’ said O’Neal, after Hilton blew him kisses and followed him around the house.
‘I know exactly what you’re doing, you know exactly what you’d get in America. You’re taunting me.
‘You are coming over here, you following me. How could Big Brother let you do this? Oh wait, you are Big Brother. You are not going to say one word?’
Hilton later broke down in tears saying he did not feel safe in the house with O’Neal and other housemate Katie Hopkins, who he is clashed with too.
Other housemates include RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage. In previous episodes, viewers saw Visage break down in tears about the way Hilton has been representing the LGBTI community.
O’Neal was reprimanded by Big Brother for using the anti-gay slur.
‘Before when I was angry, I had no remorse,’ said O’Neal.
‘And now I feel a little differently about that. I shouldn’t have said that. It was totally unacceptable.’
The reality show continues to air on Channel 5 in the UK.
