Anderson Cooper says Twitter was hacked after tweet goes out calling Trump a ‘pathetic loser’

CNN journalist Anderson Cooper says his Twitter account was hacked today (13 December).

In the early hours of the morning, his account replied to a tweet by Donald Trump. In his reply, he called Trump a ‘pathetic loser’.

Here’s a screenshot of the exchange.

In Trump’s original tweet, he claimed he originally endorsed Luther Strange (the establishment Republican who lost to Roy Moore in primary runoff before yesterday’s election) because he knew Moore would lose in a general election.

The tweet from Cooper’s account also called Trump a ‘tool’.

Earlier this morning, Cooper tweeted that he ‘just woke up to find out someone gained access to my twitter account’.

‘i have not sent a tweet in days or replied to any tweets,’ he continued. ‘We are looking into how this happened.’

‘We’ presumably means CNN, who is standing by their anchor.

Their PR account also tweeted about the incident.

They wrote someone gained access to Cooper’s handle and ‘replied to POTUS’.

They also revealed they’re ‘working with Twitter to secure the account’.

A tweet like this is damaging for a highly regarded journalist like Cooper. However, based on replies and tweets, many people believe him and that he didn’t tweet the disparaging remarks.

It doesn’t stop them from finding it hilarious or wanting it to be real, though.
