Another London gay bar has announced it is set to close its doors.
The Green Carnation in Soho is to give its final farewell this weekend to make way for a new venue to take its place.
It is unknown whether it will remain a gay bar, but owners have promised a ‘new concept’ that is ‘aspirational to the Soho clientele’.
Numerous LGBTI-friendly venues have announced their closure in the last few years, including The Joiners Arms, Profile, Madame JoJo’s, Manbar and Candy Bar.
‘We are going to completely remodel and refurbish the venue across all four floors and give it a brand new look and fresh and original identity in time for Summer 2015,’ The Green Carnation said in a statement.
‘After 10 successful years and several different guises we have decided to close the third chapter of its current incarnation aptly named Green Carnation to make way for an exciting new concept.
‘The concept, secretly under wraps, will be and brand new, fresh identity that matches with the aspirations of Soho clientele.’
The last day for The Green Carnation will be Sunday 18 January.
