Anthony Rapp says any actor who works with Bryan Singer will be ‘put on blast’

Anthony Rapp will star in Star Trek: Discovery

Gay actor Anthony Rapp tweeted recently about director Bryan Singer and warned any actors who decide to work with him going forward.

Singer has been dogged for years in Hollywood by allegations of sexual assault and rape.

Most recently, the Atlantic published a lengthy piece detailing the stories of four men claiming to be victims of Singer. Even before the piece was published (originally at Esquire), Singer denied the allegations.

Despite the allegations, Singer is still slated to direct the upcoming film Red Sonja. This film is about a sword-and-sorcery comic book character whose backstory involves her rape and murder of her family.

Rapp, who currently stars in CBS All-Access’ Star Trek: Discovery, tweeted about this new.

He wrote that ‘any actor who agrees to work on this film is complicit in keeping a predator in power and will be put on blast’.

In 2017, Rapp tweeted about his own alleged sexual abuse at the hands of actor Kevin Spacey.

Subsequent accusations led to the downfall of Spacey’s career, as well as numerous legal investigations and charges of sexual assault.

Where do you draw the line?

Rapp responded to multiple people who replied to his tweet.

One person asked him how actors without the power, fame, and financial security to turn down roles should do this.

‘who should we invoice for lost wages?’ they asked him.

Rapp conceded he was ‘talking most specifically about actors who are in a position to choose their roles’.

He did, however, shoot back a question about whether or not there’s a line to be drawn when you learning about a ‘potential employer’s behavior’.

In another conversation, someone lamented the ‘stain’ on the film Bohemian Rhapsody for Singer’s involvement with it.

Rapp state he was ‘not conducting any sort of stain campaign’ against the film.

He did take issue with the person’s claim that Singer was fired from Bohemian Rhapsody ‘well before’ the end of filming. Rapp tweeted Singer’s firing happened only three weeks before the end of shooting.
