Anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church protests anti-gay Kim Davis in Kentucky

The Westboro Baptist Church, best known for its anti-gay demonstrations, protested anti-gay Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis on Monday.

It’s obviously not because Davis is fighting against same-sex couples being granted marriage licenses the Kansas-based group has a problem with. It’s the fact that she herself has been married four times.

‘The same God who said it’s not OK to be gay said it’s not OK to divorce/remarry,’ the group stated on its Twitter account.

The protest took place on a street corner in Kansas near the Rowan County Courthouse where Davis works.

The group sang a parody version of the song Kentucky Woman with different lyrics that included: ‘God hates her! She knows God hates her!’

They explained on Twitter the reason behind their version of the song: ‘Singing to Kim Davis in KY cuz she refused to give fags marriage licenses but gave herself FOUR?! Both are sins!’

They also believe their demonstration against Davis should lead to expanding their ‘label from “anti-gay” to “anti-sin.”’

Davis was jailed for six days in Kentucky for defying a federal judge’s order that she allow licenses to be issued to same-sex couples.

Davis has kept a relatively low profile since giving an interview to ABC News last month claiming she had a private meeting with Pope Francis during his US visit. The Vatican has attempted to distance itself from Davis after severe backlash ensued.
