Queer Eye’s food expert Antoni Porowski has ended his relationship of seven years with Joey Krietemeyer.
Magazine US Weekly confirmed the news.
‘Antoni and Joey broke up two months ago,’ a source said. ‘It was very amicable. They’re still friends. It was a clean split.’
The couple was together for more than seven years and in an interview with Vulture earlier this year, Porowski described them as ‘basically married’.
He was even close with Krietemeyer’s parents. Porowski often recommends the book A Little Life, and even encouraged Krietemeyer’s mom to read it.
‘She was really uncomfortable with the book and I thought she’d dislike it, but I wanted her to read it anyway and she ended up loving it,’ he said in the same Vulture interview.
In another piece with GQ, Porowski credited his relationship with coming out to his father.
‘[My father] made a comment driving me to the airport that I certainly lead a very discreet life,’ he explained. ‘I’m on the plane on the tarmac like, “Well, if the plane crashes, I’m going to die and he’s never going to know.”
‘Because I was living with Joey, my boyfriend now, I wrote my father a very short email: “You brought this up. I think it’s time I tell you: I love. I am loved. His name is Joey, and we live together.” That was it.’
Happy in life
Porowski’s Queer Eye co-star Karamo Brown described Porowski as ‘happy in his life’.
He continued: ‘He deserves all the happiness in the world. People don’t realize what a sweet, empathetic person he is. So I just love that he’s happy.’
Porowski has remained busy since the split, both filming Season 3 of Queer Eye in new city Kansas City, Missouri, and opening a restaurant in New York.
The Village Den in the West Side opened on the first day of the month.
