Ariana Grande has apologized after making a joke about murdered child beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey.
The 26-year-old singer commented on her best friend Doug Middlebrook’s now-deleted Instagram post yesterday (28 July).

It was a photo of JonBenét Ramsey with the headline: ‘Arrest made!’
Middlebrook wrote in the caption: ‘No one has done more covers.’
Then Ariana joked: ‘I can’t WAIT for this to be your Halloween look.’
Middlebrook then responded: ‘Working on it already’.

Twitter user @ivanmoratroya saw the pop superstar’s reply and took to Twitter last night (28 July) to express his disappointment.
‘Wait WHAT??’ he wrote in a tweet, with screenshots of the interaction. ‘An 8-year-old girl who was violently killed, strangled and suffocated cannot be anyone’s costume…’

A few hours after posting the tweet, Ariana then responded directly to it.
‘Yeah no, I deleted it very quickly and understand that it’s not at all funny,’ she tweeted. ‘This was out of pocket and I sincerely apologize.’
